I heard a song by them a long time ago. They're great.

i've been listening to the album non-stop since....yesterday.

unbelievably good album. it's fairly short compared to their previous work but the quality is nothing short of sparkling diamond. here's a cliche: everytime i listen to it, it gets better and better.

these guys are just on fire. they could single-handedly turn me away from hip hop and rap and make me pick up a guitar. i love them.

ok, i had to come back and say it:

they are THE BEST metal band on earth at the moment. being a new band, you can't compare them to the old classic stuff but they are wiping the floor with new metal bands (the new wave of american metal as they call it).

the Mighty Mastodon are the benchmark in this day and age.

im glad they got away from that growling bullshit. that was the only thing i found to be a fault with them.

I have yet to hear this album but will get it soon. I really liked them when I saw them live, with Lamb of God and Slayer .....oh man that was a good show.

Yeah, that really detracted from their previous albums. This one is practically growl free. I've got to agree with Tzar, the more I listen to it the better it gets.

It's great that the drummer quit being such a showoff. There's really no need to be playing the toms all crazy.

At the first listen, it almost seemed like there was too much going on but after a few listens, it grows on you.

Great album, nice and groovy.(y)

Do it! I encourage anyone to pick a guitar up. Teach yourself, learn to read tabs and eventually work your way up.

I think once you've learned how to read music, learn chords and scales, try to make your own riffs instead of practicing with other people's stuff. It's ok to use them as just a reference to learn different techniques..

Fucking electric man, it's like 2009 and shit and there's tons of updated effects out.

Go for it!

i gotta admit, i love remission and all the growling. it's such a brutal album but yeah, it's good to see them moving on from it. most bands these days can't maintain growling/gutteral vocals throughout 3-5 albums; they all tend to soften up.

i never saw brann as a showoff with his continuous fills though. he does say in the 'making of CTS' dvd that he has moved on from it for this album. he says he enjoys having a groove. proper awesome drummer.

Yeah I'm loving the new 'singing'. It opens them up a little more and shows diversity.

How good is Divinations!?!?!? That is an amazing track. (y)

i really appreciated their other albums. but i couldn't even listen to any of ther ablums fully. it was just too harsh and psychotic. but this one get's played over and over again. i think it's due to the toned down franetic dumming(brann dailor's drumming was fucking awesome just too much sometimes) and the lack of growling. it really opened them up. they also kinda slowed down but not in the same sense that metallica did. they still kept their complexities. not going full tilt 100 percent of the time actually made them more complex.

^ yeah, that's spot on. they're maturing as a band. realising they don't have to prove themselves anymore to anyone so they're making music for themselves.

at first i couldn't listen to Leviathan in full for the same reason you said; it was too full on. but i stopped listening to it for about a month of two and now i appreciate it so much more. i've done that for all of their albums now and i'll probably do it CTS right.......now.

they're fuckin' sick live as well. saw them when i saw Slayer and they sounded like perfection. not a beat missed, not a riff was stuffed, vocals were awesome. they is the shit. COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA \m/

Apparently they are a Metal band whom distance themselves from the metal scene. They prefer the progressive rock scene.

I was skim reading this in a mag in the supermarket yesterday.

Tzar

i wouldn't say they distance themselves from the metal scene. they are in the metal scene whether they like it or not. they're just don't consider themselves METAL!

they've never had a fixed metal genre classification. prog metal is probably their most common fixation though.

Nah man, they actually do. Well they believe that they do. Dunno how supporting Slayer helps.

They've supported Tool a few times too.

Tzar

and they're supporting metallica at the moment, i think.

Yeah later on in the year they are.

Not a massive Metallica fan so I can live with missing those shows.

Would love to see them with Tool again though. Who do you reckon would be a go touring band with them (main or support)?
