I've complained about this before and I'm going to do it again. I went to a very small venue last night that was busting people for chewing gum and making sure people didn't bring in candy. I can't figure out why people can't bring in candy but anyway, photography was allowed. Its hard to enjoy a singer with 15 cameras blazzing up every 10 seconds so they can capture every single second of someone who has a billion pictures on a google image search already. And sure enough, this morning, there was video footage on youtube from the concert thats not even 24 hours old. And its crappy footage. I maybe understand if something crazy like your friend gets pulled out of the crowd or something but rant rant rant crabby crabby rant rant.

Why does it seem like only 1/2 the people actually enjoy the concert while the other half wants to make it a multimedia experience.

Agreed. Although I've been guilty of taking pics at shows but walk away with just a handfull of pics cuz i would rather enjoy the show.

i feel like in places like LA or NYC you'd get a higher percentage of people who claim to be photographers and directors who want to get in on the action and take lots of photos and video, but maybe its just that cameras are so cheap now.. plus now everyone has an audience on myspace and facebook, so they feel the need to keep their people entertained. or just people are stupid and there's no real reason

but yeah the whole "THERE ARE ALREADY 32MILLION PICTURES OF THAT ON GOOGLE, WHY IS THIS ONE SO IMPORTANT" thing is something i think about and laugh at

lol! yeah I'm super guilty of this... I didn't do it last night for Emiliana Torrini though. But man oh man last week at the PJ Harvey show?! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/xxxxxjenny/sets/72157615768970691/) Yeah I'z a shutterbug. I have such a girl crush on her it's not even funny. Plus she plays the states so rarely I felt it my obligation as a fan to document it for the world.

Never even thought of bringing a camera to a show. Not sure I'd want that with me for a night out anyway.

...and Echewta, I wasn't 100% sure more like 95% sure it was you and yeah the idea of saying 'eat shit' in Empire Strikes Back lingo potentially to a stranger I guess held me back a bit ;) It was an amazing show. Far exceeded any expectations I had. I found it interesting how shocked she seemed that people were wanting to hear 'Love in the Time of Science' cuts. The new stuff is good but it's def doesn't top that album. I loved her whiskey request. I've never seen anyone drink whiskey in a more adorable fashion.
