the question I have, is, were you attracted to girls before you knew what "bi" or "lesbian" meant?

female sexuality and attraction is more plastic (as in flexible) than male sexuality. and is susceptible to sociocultural variables.

in plain language, women can be attracted to other women, and it's perfectly normal. you don't necessarily need to identify yourself as "bi" if you feel a little stirring from seeing photos of a woman you find attractive.

you see, straight people can't run around saying they're gay when they're not, because it sort of belittles people who truly identify themselves as gay.


I don't know, one of my best friends is a therapist who works at a juvenile prison and she knows more about this than me. 15 year olds are constantly telling her that they're lesbians.


anyway, if you're gay, cool, awesome. but if you're saying you're bi because it seems like a good idea and a way to explain feelings you're having for your female friends or celebrities, just wait it out for awhile. maybe experiment safely when you get a little older (preferably 18, in my opinion.) there's a great big world out there, there's no reason you need to label yourself as anything right now.

it's always interesting how people like to tell other people what they can and can't label themselves as. and I find it even more intriguing that it's almost always straight women who are quick to tell another woman that's she's not gay/bi when she expresses sexual interest in women.

I've been attracted to both men and women since puberty, but I never went down on a woman up until recently...so that I guess that means I've been unofficially bi for all these years. I don't remember getting any sort of certificate after munching rug making me officially bi and I would still hesitate to label myself as such, even though I've been intimate with a woman and probably will be again.

I think if she identifies herself as bi, we should accept that. and if next week she identifies as straight, I think we can accept that too. These things aren't always black and white for everyone. I know people who don't have a hard time identifying themselves as either gay or straight have a hard time with this flexibility, but that's too bad. get over it, there is no rule that says you have to be one or the other or you don't exist.

I truly don't think a person can know if he/she is bisexual until he/she has experimented sexually. Physical attraction and sexual attraction are not the same thing. 1) I think some people are having a go purely because its a 15 yr old who brought this subject up and perhaps some of the older contributors are a little uncomfortable with that.
