Does anyone remember this?

The only evidence I could find on the entire Internets is a board post from '05 and this: http://www.beastiemuseum.de/gr/1996/Bands/BeastieBoys/index2.html

More info needed.

There was an interview the boys did in Europe around release of HN. And they were having some fun with the interviewer and one of them mentioned that they had recorded some stuff in a submarine and then talked about some country songs they had recorded. Can't remember which Beastie said it...but another jumped in to kinda hush hush him.

Obviously the country stuff turned out to be Country Mike. I think the submarine stuff was just beastie bullshit or an obscure reference to their underground studio they called the dungeon.

The aquatic sessions? I hold out hopes that there is an album they half recorded before they went the Hello Nasty direction. Something that subsequently was chopped and spliced and layered upon.

Whenever I write something, I write the first thing I think of, because it's easy to know your intended direction if you have something down. Even if it's all wrong, it shows you what you should be doing. I first heard about this in 96, and I believe, against all better judgement, that these recordings exist. I know it's foolish of me, but they exist.

the submarine was beastieboys.com .. you could check out all the rooms in it and stuff. they had a basketball court, skate park, recording studio, etc.
the news said they were under water in it recording. i can't remember what they were calling it.. subaquatic something or other i don't know.. this of course turned into the hello nasty space staion with similar rooms.. same idea though. i just remember it was a submarine.. then a few weeks later it was a space staion  this was 11 years ago so i can't remember it well

The site back then mentioned that the Wu Tang Clan had stopped by the underwater studio to record with them. I never heard about that again.

on a serious tip...the boys should record in some funked out place. somewhere different. like Jamaica, or something. get 'em out of NY. I mean I love NY and all, but the Beasties did some of their best stuff in LA, when they were out of their NY environs.

You know, Rolling Stones in France for Exile on Main Street. Metallica in Denmark for Master of Puppets. U2 in Berlin for Achtung Baby. that type of shit...

But I guess Paul's is that album for them though.
