It's funny how they urge you to go out and buy their new CD and you go to their myspace and every song from the "new CD" is uploaded. However, there is a few bands that make music I love and I actually go out and buy their cd. (Beastie Boys, The Devil Wears Prada, Gorillaz, etc.)

i kind of dont get it either

a lot of bands put out albums just to make money touring. they know and i guess accept that people will pirate the hell out of their music

i think they have to accept that they've got to give people more for their money, and think of ways to put out "product" thats harder to replicate digitally... like interesting packaging, extras, videos, etc

one promising idea i heard is bands making recordings of shows available immdiately on exit from the show. then again, people will just wait to get home and steal it online from someone else who bought it

or like prince, when you bought a ticket to a show, you were also buying the new album, it came with the tickets.
