the rumor mill has been brewing that Pearl Jam and Dave matthews will headline along with Beastie Boys. that's the same lineup at SF, so take it however you may...
official announcement April 28,
fest Oct 2-4
I think this could be at the end of their "festival season" and maybe they kick off their tour after that?
hollywood bowl, the only non festival gig coming up, is late September

I also heard via the rumor mill, that they will be taping an ACL TV show, in conjunction with the festival.
So, the rumors are pouring in.
Let's hope it happens.

According to Austin360 (http://www.austin360.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/music/entries/2009/04/20/acl_confirms_pearl_jam_as_head.html), they pretty much are confirmed...
Meanwhile, Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth are both doing a tapings of “Austin City Limits” during the fest, so you can go ahead and put them on the list. Charles Attal of C3 would neither confirm nor deny those acts would be playing at Zilker Park Oct. 2- 4.

Anyone ever been to ACL before? What's the best way to go just to see one band? 3 day passes are pretty expensive, is there a better way to go about it?

later on, single-day passes will go on sale, so just wait for now.
also, I'm 90% sure that they're performing on Sunday, so plan accordingly.

Got my single day ticket yesterday ($85) but will worth every penny as they are headlining which gives them a 1 1/2 hour slot to fill. Can't wait for the new shit!

can anyone clarify the appearance on the actual ACL program?
is this something done from the festival or will they go into an intimate live audience setting the week they are in Austin to tape a performance for PBS?
inquiring minds would like to know.

35th Anniversary Season includes Beastie Boys! This is totally different than the festival itself...
New season begins airing on October 3
with Dave Matthews Band
Celebrating 35 years on the air, the award-winning PBS series AUSTIN CITY LIMITS announces an impressive lineup for its upcoming season, which will premiere on October 3 with the multiple Grammy award-winning Dave Matthews Band and continues with a non-stop schedule of chart topping artists, genre defining originators and a fresh batch of exciting new performers.
Along with Dave Matthews Band, the anniversary season welcomes reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney, iconic and influential bands Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth, renowned singer and songwriter Elvis Costello, rocker Ben Harper and Relentless7 and a very special joint performance by Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel. Longtime fans of the show might recall that Willie Nelson appeared on the original pilot episode for AUSTIN CITY LIMITS, recorded in October 1974, and Asleep at the Wheel appeared on the first episode of the first official season in 1976.
"We had high hopes for our 35th anniversary, but never expected to pull together a season like this" said ACL producer Terry Lickona. "We've scored major coups with some of the biggest names in rock and some of the best touring bands in the world. And we're excited to continue to showcase the best new and emerging sounds wherever they come from, including some of the hottest bands making waves in Austin and beyond. After three and a half decades it seems like everybody still wants to stand on that stage and be a part of ACL history."
The full list of confirmed performers for AUSTIN CITY LIMITS Season 35 include Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Kenney Chesney, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper and Relentless7, M Ward, Andrew Bird, Madeleine Peyroux, St. Vincent, Heartless Bastards, Okkervil River and Band of Heathens.
Exact broadcast dates, additional confirmed performers and news of other exciting events planned for this special 35th anniversary season will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
When it comes to presenting live music, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS embodies its motto of "Great Music. No Limits." Accomplishing what no other show has done in the history of American television, the series has, for more than three decades, presented audiences with the most diverse, original, cutting-edge talent music has to offer. Staying on the cusp of technology, ACL is broadcast in dynamic high definition and 5.1 surround sound on PBS HD channels where available and airs nationally on 97% of the country's PBS stations.
austincitylimits.org features performance clips, extended interviews and photo galleries from spotlighted artists and archival footage of historical performances from the great stage of
AUSTIN CITY LIMITS.
Produced by KLRU-TV, funding for AUSTIN CITY LIMITS is provided in part by AMD, Budweiser and the Austin Convention Center Department. Additional funding is provided by the
Friends of Austin City Limits.
