Hooray for freedom of speech, but man some of those signs are straight up offensive and incorrect!
Where were these protesters when bush was sucking Saudi dick? Wasting away our $$ on a war, neglecting his citizens, eating out of the troughs of corporate America and lying to the public and the world about his war?
I'm sure some were protesting, but I doubt the true blue conservative base had anything to to do with it.
media sensation or serious call for change?

defiantly thought this was going to be about this (http://pun.org/josh/archives/tea_bag_02.jpg) or this (http://www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com/images/coolest-teabag-costume-7-31001.jpg) or this (http://www.drunkuniversity.com/images/photos/d/Drunk-girl-gets-OWNED-with-a-teabag.jpg).
but some of those signs were witty.
that first white slavery sign was just redneck.
in the end those are just disgruntled bush voters.

Obviously, the first slide slow on Huffington Post was obviously grabbing the most offensive and retarded signs. I'm pretty sure they represented only the absolute crazies out of the nutty bunch.
The second Huff Post slideshow with children holding signs at least showed that there was some semblence of diverse points of view, even if many were of the fringe variety (i.e. there were some libertarian perspectives and some that called out BOTH Republicans and Democrats).

I paid taxes this year, it made me unhappy for a moment. It didn't make me clinically insane though. What a bunch of self centered nutjobs. Most everyone in these photos I would not let anywhere near my kids.
Or cats and dog.

There's just as many nuts everywhere else. These types of photos are to make yout think they're all whack jobs, when in all reality, most of those people you work and live with every day. They're just as normal as yourself. They happen to have a different opinion is all, an when you have a different opinion than what most media wants you to have, you're a crazed loon in their eyes, and they'll find a way to make you look the part.
Happens every day, nothing shocking.
I Went to the Tea Party here in Chicago, and it was amazing to see the different people. I talked to many people, and they all had the same reason for being there. Either they were once a very proud supporter of the Republican party, or they were once a very proud supporter of the Democratic party, but now, they want nothing to do with either one since they're mostly one in the same.
It was quite enlightening to see and meet all those people.
Signs are signs. I don't usually talk to people who make signs and scream craziness at the top of their lungs, but that's all the media finds news worthy. Who would want to hear from a sound minded person when the reason for them being there is so against their own agenda.
What was really disturbing out of this whole deal was Obubba's response.
Really lets ya know he cares very little for the people. You're included, no matter how much you love him.

To blame Obama on your current taxes is the equivalent of me putting in a child deduction on my taxes because I have sperm. Those folks have a bit of a mental withdrawal.
Obama was not the president during 2008, he had 0 effect or legal say on your tax return or payment for 2008.
Have Americans become so fucked up they don't even remember the time, place and people involved in events of current history?

our country is so short term minded.
man sometimes things need to be sacrificed in the moment to have something worth being part of in the future.
pay some more taxes. cut back on some stuff in your personal life.
did people bitch in WWII when they couldn't eat certain things? probably, but im sure they knew it was for the greater good.

1. Pay more in taxes while the Obama appointee who has oversight of the IRS "mistakenly" doesnt pay what he's already due...yep thats inspiring
2. Did you ever stop to think that its not we arent paying enough in taxes but rather govt at all levels are spending too much (of course, if you want to pay more than you owe feel free to send it to the IRS)
3. WWII was exactly that...a war time situation. What is going on right is a massive expansion of govt power under the guise of "economic stimulus"
4. We arent sacrificing anything right now.....we are sacrificing our childrens future with added debt, etc.

I saw those Teabag parties locally, all upper class / upper middle class white people who probablly use so many loopholes they pay less takes than I do. Middle aged trophy wives who have never worked a day in their life, guys who just got off the golf course to complain and hold a sign, etc.
I have a newsflash, if there's no more federal income tax there's no more United States. Get used to it. And don't say shit about spending considering your boy Bush took us from a budget surplus to the largest deficit in history.
Then I heard this outrageous idea about how the teabaggers grand plan is to abolish income tax and go to a 25% or so sales tax... Yeah good luck with that. Way to enslave the middle and lower class while you get rich off the intrest alone in your shelter accounts. Wait til you get billed $6.25 for your $5 footlong. Wait til you pay $250,000 for a $200,000 home before intrest...
These people would freak the fuck out if their wish came true the first time they saw it in the real world. And you say the poor want a handout?

Why do you guys not want to face the real things that people are pissed about? It's not just taxes. It's that our country, liberty, and independence are being stripped from us by the second. Add to it that we're spending like a teenage girl with Daddy's credit card, and no plans of how to pay it back, should make most Americans freak. If not, then I'd have to say the others are followers in one way or another. I know it's a hard pill to swallow. I had to swallow it with GW,and I knew where we heading with Clinton, now it's at full throttle with Obubba.

Obubba? Clinton wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but to put him on some sort of course that resembles George W. Bush is fucked up. Obama is the Presidents name, he's done more to repair our Country in 100 days than George did in eight fucking years. If you were to pull your head out of your ass long enough to understand the depth of eight years of colossal fuck ups and negligence, the gravity of your belittling Obama may settle in.
I get it, your angry with the current course the United States is on, so are a few hundred million other Americans. Shooting from the hip without the real problem to aim at isn't going to improve our position on the planet earth. We here in Seattle are more than aware of how fucked up "Globalization" has affected not only the US, but the whole planet which is currently up for bid to corporate entities.
I like this WTO in Seattle picture (http://media.portland.indymedia.org/images/2004/01/278587.jpg) because even though it's been a decade since the Battle in Seattle, I see the Washington Mutual Bank building behind the skirmish and can get a chuckle that WAMU's own greed killed them in the end... which honestly is what I feel has happened to our whole country.
This has been a long time coming, eventually having no product to offer the world's markets was going to catch up to us. We've let our leadership not only co-opt the American Ideal but sell our livelihood to the lowest bidder.
That is my take on our government. It is not a representative government of "We the People" it is and has been for decades a representative of big business exclusively.
I think your being incredibly unfair to say Obama is the expediter of this state of affairs, because as much as I do not agree with many of his policies, I have been pleasantly surprised at his ability to be a grown up and take a position of leadership that the rest of the World gets.

It looks like a few hundred people out there with signs which tells me a group of Americans have found a kindred collective to bash the POTUS and in general whatever they feel is liberalism. My sense is the folks who currently out there "teabagging" haven't a clue as to what is really happening politically or environmentally.
The whole idea that a tax protest bothers anyone who is receiving government allotted bailout cash is ludicrous. As long as you protest yourself (which essentially is what these people are doing) you accomplish 0. Take it to the corporate headquarters that just raped and gutted your Country, then, just maybe, you'll have a bit of impact.
Glenn Beck has great ratings (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-foxnews6-2009mar06,0,7908248.story), especially now that he has found his audience. I think it is actually the beginning of a trend where these Talk Show hosts will try and outdo each other by going after Barack Obama.
I also see where eventually it may become construed as veiled racism and some serious challenges/ass kicking may come into play.

Much of this is coming from many of the same people who did this very same thing during the Clinton administration,
Freedom Works (http://www.freedomworks.org/about/board-of-directors) which is chaired by Dick Army, remember Contract on America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_with_America)?
Below is an excerpt from a Joe Conason piece written in the Oregonian (http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2009/04/obamas_cup_of_tea.html)
At the apex of the tea-party movement, aside from such Fox revolutionaries as Rupert Murdoch, there is a well-funded organization known as FreedomWorks, headed by a former politician named Dick Armey. His past career should be instructive to any starry-eyed citizens who believe that they have at last found the true right-wing revolutionary path.
Back when the Republicans first gained control of Congress more than a decade ago, Armey, a former economics professor at a small Texas college, was hailed as the author of the Contract with America and led the Republicans as House Majority Leader until his retirement. Having risen to power on the strength of a "tax revolt" against President Bill Clinton's first budget, which raised rates on the wealthiest Americans to trim the enormous deficit he had inherited from the first Bush administration. That summer, Armey warned of an economic apocalypse -- and his party won the midterm election before his predictions could be proved embarrassingly wrong.
and so on and so forth, but when you dig just a little bit you will find out it is pretty much the same Fat Cat protectors like Steve Forbes, and private medical/industry captains that do have something to lose financially if they pay taxes. I paid fucking taxes and these creeps think they shouldn't, even in the face of economic collapse.

Tea Party Twitter Arrest: Daniel Hayden Threatened Mass Murder, Cop Killing
Associated Press/Huffington Post l April 26, 2009 02:20 PM
An Oklahoma man was arrested by FBI agents earlier this month for posting a series of messages on his Twitter account threatening to use a tax day Tea Party protest to commit politically-motivated mass murder.
"The WAR wWIL start on the stepes of the Oklahoma State Capitol. I will cast the first stone. In the meantime, I await the police," wrote Daniel Knight Hayden, 52, according to messages included in the FBI affidavit (posted below).
Another Twitter post began "START THE KILLING NOW!" Yet another: "Send the cops around. I will cut their heads off the heads and throw the[m] on the State Capitol steps," he wrote in one message.
Hayden was arrested for transmitting threats to kill or injure people using interstate communication tools over the internet. The AP reports that it isn't clear whether he's been charged.
Special agent Michael S. Puskas said that Hayden posted threats under the Internet name "CitizenQuasar." Puskas says agents also found a MySpace account using the name "Citizen Quasar" and on Blogger.com an online diary using the name "Quasar."
Wired.com's Threat Level reports (http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2009/04/twitterraid.html) that it "appears to be [the] first criminal prosecution to stem from posts on the microblogging site."
Hayden was arraigned on the 16th, and ordered released to a halfway house pending trial -- a move that suggests the magistrate judge does not consider him a genuine threat. Hayden's attorney declined to comment. California-based Twitter did not respond to an inquiry by Threat Level.
Here are Hayden's tweets, via the FBI affidavit:
7:59 p.m. "The WAR wWIL start on the stepes of the Oklahoma State Capitol. I will cast the first stone. In the meantime, I await the police."
8:01 p.m. "START THE KILLING NOW! I am wiling to be the FIRST DEATH! I Await the police. They will kill me in my home."
8:06 p.m. "After I am killed on the Capitol Steps like REAL man, the rest of you will REMEMBER ME!!!"
8:17 p.m. "I really don' give a shit anymore. Send the cops around. I will cut their heads off the heads and throw the on the State Capitol steps."
