When Ill Communication first came out, I heard a censored version on the radio that had scratch fills over all the cussing. Now, I have a censored version that reverses all the cuss words, but the version I heard on the radio wasn't like that. It actually had stuff like "fresh" scratched in to cover the cussing (much like in the Sure Shot video).

Anybody know where to find the Get It Together scratch-censored version?

the version you are referring to is the 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' Clean Version. It appears on one of the Flavor For Your Ear compilation discs titled What The Fuck Is This Shit!?!

Thanks. I think that's it. I wonder where the origin is on this cause I heard it right when Ill Communication was dropping. College radio. I wonder if its originally from a promo or something. The Flavor for Your Ear looks like bootlegg compilation CDs.

Yea the maker of the FFYE collection put a lot of time into the discs and I believe sold a bunch of copies like 10 years ago. There is like 15+ discs in the set. Can't find them anywhere other than the hub, if luck is behind ya. I've been trying to get them all forever. I'm not sure where the "baa baa black sheep" version came off of

I was hoping you could re-up this compilation. I have been searching for this same clean version of Get It together for a couple years now. I know where it came from though. It was on a promo CD given out at a record store a few weeks before Ill Communication released. there were three promo CDs. One was Sabotage. The second was Get It Together with this mysterious clean version. And the third promo had both of these singles.

I remember the clean version had scratching to cover the curse words, yes .... but I also remember hearing a few sound effects like a cow and a horn. I lost the promo in a move and have been searching ever since.

Again, I was hoping you could re-up this compilation so I could see if this is that version. Thank you.

Wow, oddly enough I was just thinking about this over the weekend and your re-upped this thread. I always suspected it was an official clean version because I heard it so close to the actual albums release date.

You think it's originally from this? Anyone got the promo CD promo that can confirm?

Format: CD5 in Jewel Case
Country: United States
Catalogue No.: DPRO 79359
Year: 1994
Label: Grand Royal / Capitol Records

Tracks:
1. Get It Together
2. Get It Together (Clean Version)
3. Get It Together (Instrumental)

I have all of them. I researched this 1, and will look and see if I can find the notes.

Ok, so the GIT with the curses simple deleted is from the US white vinyl Jukebox (beastiemania.com/discog/show.php?r=git7usjukewhite)

The version with random sound effects thrown in over the curses is from the US promo CD (beastiemania.com/discog/show.php?r=gitcduspromo)

The version with the curses scratched out is from the in store clean promo cd (http://beastiemania.com/discog/show.php?r=iccduspromoclean)

That doesn't mean that the tracks aren't available elsewhere, only that when I was researching the clean versions that the ones listed above were the ones that I used for the source recording.

Hope that helps.

Another anceint mystery solved! I probably have 4 or 5 "clean versions" of the track on vinyl and a few more on CD, and they're all just deleted curses.

I have an "in store clean clean" promo on cassette and isn't that just backwards curses (as opposes to scratched)?

I don't have the cassette, so I can't say? I'll email them to you and you can tell us if any are the version you're looking for.

Anyone know, is there any way to hear the US promo clean version online without buying?
I remember taping it off the radio in Boston when it premiered (WFNX) and that was the version I knew until the album leaked - haven't heard the clean one in years.
It was the first time I ever heard "shit" edited backwards, as in "talkin' lots of ish", plus it cut out Q-Tip's lines about jism and the x-rated nigga, etc.

Google search the catalog number, that usually turns up a cheap copy.
