it says dress in a manner that shows respect for these important proceedings. what does that mean? what should i wear? does that mean jeans and sneakers are not cool?

I showed up to every day of my jury duty last year in jeans and a hoodie and they didn't kick me out. The opposite, in fact. I was nearly selected as a juror on a murder trial.

I don't think it matters.

You've been in the country for five minutes and you already have jury duty? I've never had it.

Don't wear shorts or a sundress with no bra. No flip flops. I've seen loads of juror in jeans and tennis shoes. If it were me I'd wear black or blue pants and a comfortable shirt that has sleeves (short or long).

Wear somewhat dressy pants with a casual shirt. Nothing too flashy or anything.

I dunno. Some people feel it's respectable to wear something more formal going to a courtroom; it isn't a huge deal, though, you can wear jeans and a shirt or sweater, and no one will drag you out of the court for wearing casual clothes. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.

well, i'm not even from here. i am a foreigner. i shouldn't be allowed.

yeah i was wondering about that, i thought you had to be a citizen to do jury duty? i guess not

anyway, right, clothing. it's not like they're going to hold you in contempt for what you're wearing, so really you don't have to do anything, but don't wear a suit or anything. something with a non-sneaker closed-toe shoe and no jeans.

I feel bad for my friends when the get jury service. Its one of the perks of having a criminal record I don't get it (y)

But normally you can tick a box to say you agree with murder or something and they tell you that you ain't suitable for a trial.

My best mate got picked for a pot case which closed down most of the grow-houses in the local area - weed prices shot up for about a 6 month period. Man I was pissed.

Easiest way to get out is to say you know the defendant/s.

Did you vote in Brooklyn? That must be how they caught onto you. If you move around a lot, you won't have to be on a jury.

Personally, I'd love to be on a jury, but my employer would pay me my full salary while I was there. That makes it much easier.
