first ever!

he was drunk and asked for a light. I asked what his accent was, and guessed australian. he was surprised I came so close though. anyway, he said he was born in america to immigrant parents (one from poland, one from germany), but his parents moved to new zealand in 1997. then he started talking about how america sucks, it's the worst place in the world, etc. it was pretty funny. I kinda stood up for it a little, and he got mad at me for trying to trick him out of hating america. the conversation ended awkwardly. :/

huh, I still like new zuhlind accents though. (y)

all I learned to say in a kiwi voice was "OI! JEFF!"

Im up in the yukon right now and 3 times people (without me even saying anything) have started conversations with me by saying "sooo are you american??"

wtf?
I think it's because I like odd belts...

Kiwi's are the nicest people ever. And Polish.

I had a house mate Kiwi once, he was the healthiest and fittest mofo I'd ever met.

So are you gonna do him even though he hates your country?

but he was shitfaced and bitter..

sounds british to me - did you check his teeth? He could of been lying to try and make himself sound more exotic and into sheep.

meeting fellow NZers here in Berlin is funny. sometimes they seem almost stunned by the outside world. their naivety can be either cute or embarrassing.

if done well harassing Americans about their country can be fun times, if done not so well it can just be obnoxious.

well, he was mostly upset because he couldn't get a good job because he couldn't join a union. he was a carpenter. I told him if he was good he should start his own business or something. and he was like, "yeah, but..." and I was all, "but what?"

I understood where he was coming from though, it sucks for tradesman these days, people just hire cheap and mostly illegal labor. especially in the city. but, there are exceptions and you're good at something, you can make your own business. there's this dude who re-painted the store I work at, and he did it all himself. and he did a pretty good job. he was knowledgeable and hard-working, and charged less than companies that hire illegals to do the work because all the money just goes to him. everybody wins!

USA! USA! USA!

wait, what?

I think australians and new zealanders rule.

Now you know my opinion on the matter

I like Kiwis. They're like Australians but with a better sense of humour. I would have thought he got pissed off you assumed he was Australian though, all those Oceana types usually seem to hate each other (not including Mikizee, obviously).

New Zealanders are my favorite English speaking people. And New Zealand is probably my favorite country that I have visited, and that's a tough list.

it's a 22 hour flight, so if the people of new zealand want to be a part of our world, they should hop off their islands and push them closer.

Sometimes I think Tasmania should join New Zealand instead of Australia.

My favorite Kiwi is Scott Dixon. He wont the Indy 500 last year, and the Indy Car championship.

He also won the IndyCar race at Kansas last Sunday.

One fast Kiwi!

the Finns are from Te Awamutu which is about 20 minutes south of my hometown. unfortunately their song-writing skills didn't make it those 20 minutes up to me.
