What is this 7" you speak of?

Good Question. I, too, am interested in this random 7". If you could, please scan it and record any pertinent information prior to selling it to a successful Japanese businessman.

Now that I think about it, that would be an impractical but legendary way to introduce new or rare tracks (as an unadvertised bonus to a limited edition remaster)... I wish I had thought of it.

There is a video through the Beastie's myspace page with a youtube video of someone opening their package. It was the deal with the t-shirt. There was a 7" inside, white cover. So the 7" deal is not BS.

Apparently, the 7" is not in all the packages. Only in a few (à la Roald Dahl)
And also apparently, it's 2 new songs !!
if anyone can give any info or post them...

The 7" is true! I got one. Two unreleased songs. One called "Lee Majors Come Again" (3:44) and the other "B Boys In The Cut (A Capella) (2:32)." Not sure what time period these are from. The first sounds like CYH era as it's sorta Gratitude style (live instrumentation w/ rapping) and the other is just a few verses with silence in between where the instrumental track should be. Very strange.

I'm sure it was Mike Adam & Adam that packed your box. They were like...

"That Rob Money toolbag is always whining and complaining about us on the messageboards. Let's purposely screw him out of a 7". Fuck that guy! He's a sucker, he'll probably buy the next vinyl collection we have coming out... And bitch about that too"

I'm sure Mike, Adam, and Adam absolutely made the decision to include it in only SOME of the sets.

Whatever. I felt ripped the second I paid for it.

I'm sorry, but I think when you ask your fans to buy a deluxe package, and pay a deluxe price, you don't go putting golden tickets in some of the boxes and not others.

Do that shit with standard releases, not deluxe packages.

Yeah, I see your point.

I just wouldn't take it as a personal attack. Or label it as a scam. It's a great set never the less. Some people got the 7", some didn't. No one scammed you out of that free record. You just wasn't one of the lucky ones that got a "bonus" with your set.

I highly doubt they are from the CYH era because if they were, why didn't they include them on the CD with the B-sides? Those 2 songs must be from the upcoming new album. Can someone please rip the 7" & post the songs here?

Eh, or maybe they're just some really weak songs, not even b-side worthy, from the CYH era. We haven't exactly had any of the "golden ticket" holders rush to the boards claiming that these tracks were anything especially mentionable. I can't imagine they would release new material under this type of precedent. But who knows, right?

What I do know, though, is I really wanna hear these tracks regardless. Someone needs to get on the rips ASAP.:o

I'll take a guess.

I say they are from the CYH era, and the pella was meant to go over one of the instrumentals off of CYH or it's instrumental B-sides (maybe Drinkin' Wine forwards).

Either way, I can't wait to get that pella so I can start mixing with.

Oh, and Rob$, I wasn't on Santa Yauch's nice list, because it didn't come in my deluxe set either.

I suspect it's just a song off the upcoming album, which is no big deal to me if it is. In fact, I'd rather NOT hear it until the album is properly released anyway if that's the case.
It's just the principle that rubs me the wrong way.

I suspect Pooty & I were two of the first people to place an order for the deluxe box. He posted that he placed his order before the CYH homepage was even complete and I ordered right after him.

Bottom line is, It's lame.

The bonus 45 wasn’t advertised. You got what you paid for. So why are you complaining?

Also there is over 55,000 registered members on this message board and thousands of others who are not registered but who read the boards casually. What makes you think that you’re special? How are you more loyal then the rest of us?

Does having more than 1,000 posts make you more entitled?

I wish somebody with an ear for Beastie Boys music and an appreciation for more than fancy packaging could hear these tracks. It should scream out to anybody with any discernible sensibility whether they are new or not, instead we get the vague patrol out and about, telling us sweet fuck all but how it looks.

They are new. Lee Majors Come Again has a reference to apple bottom jeans, and in B Boys In The Cut (A Capella) MCA actually says "This routine dates way back. A lot of people may remember this routine but it's evolved now, yeah from the summer before last"... and then the go into the whole I've got a new name routine that they did live during the last tour.

Thanks Rob. Yeah, I got lucky on this one. I feel bad for everyone who didn't, but since the tracks are new, at least they will be widely available at some point (unless they are out takes). I would wager, that they will surface pretty quickly. I am certain someone out there has a turntable with a USB port somewhere....

Word. Someone that understands and makes some sense of the situation. This crying over a bonus 7" is sad, humorous, pathetic, then swings back to humorous again.

The goddamn bonus record wasn't advertised. You would of bought the Collectors Set anyways. But, god forbid! Someone that you don't consider as a dedicated fan gets a free as you get one... it's an outrage! Luck of the draw folks. Some people are lucky, and some aint. It has nothing to do with your so called "loyalty" and "dedication".

It had to do with there were 2000 collectors sets and they randomly threw in a bonus 7". I'm sure the B-Boys weren't packing up these boxes themselves and saying "OK, Rob in Philly doesn't get one, neither does Pooty. Ellwood Court gets one and so doesn't Ian C Rodgers. They are both not as loyal and dedicated as Rob and Pooty, but fuck it. Let's be dicks."

Ridiculous. You spent a 100 bucks and got what you paid for. A nice Vinyl Collection of "Check Your Head".

I'm sure someone nice in the next couple of days will post these tracks for everyone to listen to.

As usual, you twist everything I said, Micodin.

I never said I was better than, or more dedicated than anyone. I leave that for the folks over at Mic2Mic. I just said it sucks that two of the bands' more dedicated fans missed out. I'd bet that anyone who bought the deluxe box is a dedicated fan to a certain extent. So we all missed out.

The only thing that's pathetic is YOU, Bro.
You're happy with your shit, cool.
Now anything else you post about this is simply you grinding an ax with me. So beat it.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm not the only person who was disappointed. I'm just one of the more vocal ones.
This is a MESSAGE BOARD. My MESSAGE is that I was disappointed.
Just because you're one of the many Stepford fans who post in BG who subscribe to the notion that disagreeing with the band in any way is strictly VERBOTEN, but I'm not.

Just maybe if they happen to hear that some folks were disappointed, they won't do something like this for the next release.
Just maybe you'll be the one benefitting from my bitching when you buy your IC remaster.

I'm sorry, was the title announced yet?

Then STFU.

Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has said of Tadlock's Glasses, that the new album has taken them in a "bizarre" direction, and considering the Beastie Boys previous seven albums, knowing what "bizarre" means in this case is a considerable feat, until you actually hear the material.

Elaborating on the record's sound, Yauch said, "It's a combination of playing and sampling stuff as we're playing, and also sampling pretty obscure records."

As far as elaboration goes, that's still pretty unclear as far to the sound of Tadlock's Glasses, but the album's name is pretty straightforward; apparently the group had a tour bus driver named Tadlock, who owned a pair of glasses whose former owner was Elvis. Once you figure out what kind of sound inspires a band to name an album after a pair of glasses, you will have figured out Tadlock's.

Tadlock's Glasses is the title of the eighth studio album by the Beastie Boys, as cited by Adam "MCA" Yauch, planned for release in 2009

Explaining the origin of the forthcoming album's title Tadlock's Glasses, Adam 'MCA' Yauch explained:

"WE HAD A BUS DRIVER YEARS AGO WHO USED TO DRIVE ELVIS' BACK UP SINGERS.

"HIS NAME WAS TADLOCK AND ELVIS GAVE HIM A PAIR OF GLASSES WHICH HE WAS VERY PROUD OF. SO FOR SOME REASON THAT TITLE - TADLOCK'S GLASSES - HAS JUST BEEN BOUNCING AROUND."

I dunno... Maybe it's not "official official". But, I'm not sure what more you want.

Lee Majors Come Again is a rock/punk song, starts off with Mike playing drums and stopping because...

"Fuck, god damn it, this thing, alright wait, hold on Adam, this thing keeps falling off!"

Them playing instruments, there's a tiny bit of turntable action in the middle 1:12, like 2 seconds worth.

Really good stuff, if the whole new album is like this, I'm a happy boy.. If it goes less punk, and more Hip-Hop, I'm still happy.. Win Win situation.

Yeah its all about expectations- I wish I didn't find out the day before my copy arrived that some would contain a 45. I was disappointed when mine didn't include it. If I got my copy and then found out about other people being lucky dogs I would of been jealous but I wouldn't of had to have gone through being disappointed that I didn't win the beastie-raffle.

To be clear- I'm not upset they did this, I think its dope actually. I'm just bummed I found about about it before I got mine so my excitement and joy quotient was diminished unnecessarily. Bummer, sorta.

There is a nice little scratch and Mike D is like... There's a bird in here, dropping bombs like a bombardier"

Shit it punky, and definitely has me hype for the new record!

Micodin's becoming an internet toughguy now?

Bro, we live in the same city.
Just let me know if there's a problem you can't get over.

I mean you posted your home addy on here for crying out loud.
445 S 2nd St. Philadelphia, PA 19106.

I can be there in like 5 minutes

Is this a date? ;)

Edit: See how spineless you are, you edit out the above post where you get disparaging towards me to try to make it look like I was the first one to get disparaging. Truly a legendary display of a lack of testicles.

Look, I completely understand that being 4' tall gives you a natural inferiority complex with someone 6'-2" and 300lbs.
But this internet toughguy shit you're on is making you look ridiculous. Get over it.

You don't say anything directly to me, that would require you to have a spine, which you don't seem to have.
Instead you take these little effeminate passive-aggressive shots everytime someone makes a post. It's completely coward-like.

I've got news for you Bro, when they say the bitching needs to end they're talking about you too.
You're just too wraped up in your obsession with me to realize it.

 They are talking? About me? I'm blushing.

It's cool. They can talk. Talk is good. It clears the air. I'm not quite sure whom you are talking about. Nor do I care.

This back and forth with you is boring me. I'm 4 feet tall? You are 6 feet and grossly overweight. I get it.

I'm bored toying with you.

I'm gonna go listen to Lee Majors Come Again.

Have a nice night Rob. Enjoy your Check Your Head vinyl set!

Cheers!

My CYH Deluxe Vinyl came with a random non-Beastie 7" with a song called "Picnic at Hanging Rock" by the Nolan-Buddle Quartet. I haven't listened to it yet because my turntable isn't hooked up to my new receiver yet... When I get time to hook it up, I'll give an update.

If this is new stuff, then I'm back to thinking it's kind of cool. It's a nice way to let things slip out. I've been wondering whether the band has any real involvement in these re-releases, and I had serious doubts, because Capitol has been flogging the Radiohead catalog really hard at the same time. Maybe it's the only way a record company can make money these days -- by re-releasing the catalog to fans in a slightly new way. But slipping the 45s out is a fun way to leak new music and tantalize the fans.

I totally agree, this makes me wonder if it really is a "lost" track from cyh era. Can't be sure until the new album drops.

Is anyone working on remixing (well, mixing) this? Be intresting to hear what people interpretations of a track that no ones heard the original intended mix of.

Edit: Oh, just checked the remix board, haha some goodies.

Nah man, listen to it. I knew they'd make hardcore again, I didn't know they'd make it into hip-hop.

My 45 was The Delicates singing Little Ship and Not Tomorrow. It is a radio station copy with $1.99 sticker on the jacket. I thought that was quite odd but it all makes sense now after watching Fallen last night. (y)
