I found my stepbrother (Vince) and stepsister (Alice) on facebook yesterday.

My dad was married to their mom and in the summer of '82 they were getting a divorce and I was sent to Chicago to stay with my grandparents while my dad got all his shit straightened out. I was only supposed to be here for the summer. He never sent for me. 27 years later I still live in Chicago.

Anyway, Vince and Alice and I kept in touch after our parents divorce and I went back out to San Diego in '88 to see them for a week. After that, we went our separate ways and never heard from each other again.

I never forgot about them but I was just 'too busy' with other shit in life that I deemed more important.

There is nothing more important than keeping in touch with your roots and remembering where you came from.

Just joined facebook myself and reconnected with a whole bunch of people I grew up with from my neighborhood that I hadn't seen in years.
Life happens and you grow up, have kids or get married or whatever. Most people lose close friends along the way for a bunch of different reasons. It can be very cool when you get the opportunity to reconnect with those people from your past.

We're all renting a hall and having a "Let's all get together before we're dead and gone" party in June. It's gonna be a blast.

Sometimes the internet can be pretty cool.
