Hey everybody, we got a Beastie Boys group on identi.ca: http://identi.ca/group/beastieboys

Identi.ca is a microblogging service like Twitter, based on Laconica software which is open and free (free as in 'freedom'). Identi.ca can be used for free (free as in 'free beer'). You also can connect Identi.ca with your Twitter account (Identica -> Twitter) and you can use it directly with your instant messenger (e.g. gtalk).

Beastie Boys Microblogging Galore!

PS: I guess you all know http://twitter.com/beastieboys (I wish the maintainer of that account would use Identi.ca too)

Fair enough but we have a fairly thriving community of Beastie addicts here, why thin out the knowledge?

It's not about taking users away from the board or "thinning out the knowledge" here, it's just another way to communicate in addition to the board. For example it provides other ways to access information and news (e.g. RSS/Atom feeds). Just try it out ...
