I did a search but it seems as if no one started a thread about this teen vampire phenomenon. Anyone read the books? I saw the movie. I'm thinking about buying the t-shirt. I just want to be a part of things, you know?

This is the story of a girl who's blood smells better to vampires than that of any other human. It's about how one vampire wants to eat her so bad, but he also loves her and doesn't want her to change into something else (virginity metaphor.) The sequal will be about teen wolf moving in on her.

I was forced to watch this by the missus.

I am still waiting to hear back from the producers to see if I can get that hour and a half of my life refunded.

I have seen the movie and just finished the final book about a week ago. I really liked the series...you forget it's about vampires and more of a love story. It was a nice break from the stuff I normally read...very good mindless entertainment.

Read the books, you will love them!

Go Team Edward!

PS
I feel kinda gay saying that I was sad when I finished, I will miss reading about Bella, Edward and Jacob.

I have nothing good to say about the series.

I loved the books, read them all within like two weeks after a friend recommended them to me. Then saw the movie which was eh. But the excitement has kind of worn off for me. It might be the teenage fanfare surrounding it.

I saw a grainy version of the movie months back - some bootleg from Bangkok or something. I didn't realise the fanfare surrounding it until recently. Still got a 6/10 for the movie but I obviously spoilt it as normal by watching them all on my laptop.

I've not read the books because I can't read :'-(

The very first scene when you see the Vampires walk into the canteen in slow motion was the gayest thing I've seen in years and I work in fashion for fucks sake.

CANTEEN!

I read em all. no shame in my game.

like BG101 said, it was a nice break from the stuff I normally read (currently "Of Human Bondage" William Somerset Maugham)

I call kristen stewart "anus mouth" because she is always screwing it up or making weird shapes with it. knock it off!

I didn't care that it was hyped up because I like anything with vampires. A lot. So I figured it'd be at least entertaining.

But it was so BORING. Borrrrrrriiiiiiiingggggggg.

The only good thing about it was Edward in a suit.

ZZZZZZZ.

Why are women so intrigued by vampires? Is it the whole....you know....fantasy of being dominated?

I loved the book series and read them all within a couple of weeks, like yetra...

The thing with the stories is that the first one, Twilight, is very much a teenybopper story, but the rest of the books (and movies) get progressively darker and you no longer feel that you are reading about teenagers in love...

For anyone who found it a waste of time, I think the future movies will be much more interesting to anyone over 17...

CANTEEN!

Is this a new buzzword?

A lot of the dialogue was really cringeworthy and many scenes were unintentionally funny. But it made me feel that old teenage feeling.

I'll still try to watch any movies following the first one, despite finding the first one boring.

I hope it goes way of Harry Potter, in the sense that I find the first few movies incredibly boring and the latest one I really enjoyed. (y)

I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula and I've been to Forks many times. Let's just say it's quite possibly the most redneck area in all of Washington. And trust me, that's saying something.

It's all about this (http://www.vhlc.com.au/grapple__heel_boom-2.jpg), this (http://www.smokersoutletonline.com/images/Image013%20(2).jpg) and this (http://justbeer.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/rainier.gif).

Never seen/read Twilight and probably never will. I hate it for no reason because my friends tell me to.

My wife read the entire series within a week, she liked them. She then read the author's newest book, and liked it too. She usually likes Marianne Keyes type books, however she really enjoyed them all.

Since I'm dyslexic, I prefer to read picture books myself.

I am in the throes of it right now. Good to hear some ladies on this board I respect (bg101, Yetra, Heiress, BA01, and kll) liked them too.

Not sure what it is about them, I agree with Nuzz that the dialogue is horrible and Bella seems to me to be petulant, annoying and often completely unlikable but I am so engaged, I can barely put the damn things down when I get to work! I am almost to the end of the third book.

Camo: Yes, at least for me. :o

I feel like I will be sad when I finish too. I am trying to slow myself down and savor the moments a little more but I can't seem to.

supposedly if you go to the author's website, you can read from Edward's point of view - not Bella's.

I'd heard something about that. I need to get through these books. I can't concentrate on anything. I need to be able to focus at work but as it stands I spend most of my time in romantic day dreams about intense relationships that I've had.

Twilight was that third I'm-not-really-bothered-about-this-one-so-much-as-the-others book in a 3 for 2 book offer, know what sort I mean? Anyway, once I got into it I didn't care that it might have been a bit young for me, I devoured it anyway.

Meyer's venture away from the Twilight series The Host is also rather enjoyable IMO.

Midnight Sun (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midnightsun_partial_draft4.pdf)

It's the first book (Twilight) told from Edwards point of view. It leaked before she was finished so she did not complete it....

Dammit, as if I didn't have enough to keep me from concentrating. I'll forward to the parts where Edward realizes he's in love with her...

I maintain the reason why so many people like it, (especially women) is because every woman yearns for a man like Edward.

I was dissapointed at first but if you go to her site and read all the back stories it all makes sense.
