Could anyone tell me how to view these pages in a normal screensize? :o
It seems that it's set in a widescreen view (which I don't have), so I have to scroll to read the threads/replies.

Thanx for the reply! I guess that means i'm not the only one. Can't something be done to sort this out??? It's really annoying me.

it's been like that for years.

many of us have begged to have it changed, to no avail.

personally, I don't think it's fair. I've never seen another website that discriminates so blatantly against people with smaller screen sizes.

just because some people have fancy new computers and monitors, doesn't mean everyone does.

if your computer can't handle the required resolution it's fucking OLD

yeah, well, it still works just fine.

if it works fine then there's nothing to complain about

Well, It's 2 years old ,but, hardly out-of-date! I got it about a month before Dell sent out widescreen monitors and Vista as standard.

Surely, a screensize could be prefered in the User CP options.(!)

Yeah, that's what we've had to deal with here for ages...
TPK and minton said it would be fixed when the next album comes out, but that was way before Mix-up
And turd... Give up on slagging us with old computers!!!! I'd buy a new one IF I COULD AFFORD IT!!!!!
You can't even imagine how tired I am of this shit!

yeah no excuses... all i can say is we haven't gotten around to it. the reason for that is that it would require some remodeling of the whole flash based navigation thing on top since the MB width is based on that. but yeah, nowadays, 2009 and all, it might just be a good sign for people to go get a post 2000 screen. i mean, i currently have my browser window in windowed mode down to 70% of my screen width and i still have a good 2-3 inches of black on both side of the board.

I really haven't been to another website that doesn't resize itself.

I just think it's a little condescending for you to sit back and say, "pfft, just get a new computer". and even a bit discriminatory in my opinion.

even if I could afford it, I have a lot of other things I'd rather spend money on than a new computer when the one I have it perfectly functional.

the resolution of websites are gonna increase. they have been since the begining. it's the evolution of technology. it's gonna happen. it's like complaining that they don't make tapes for your vcr anymore.

this is the nerdiest argument ever

also worth mentioning, the newest browsers lets you zoom in/zoom out by pressing ctrl and - or +. that should do the trick for those with smaller screens.

actually, I would argue that it's more like going to your local video store and finding out that they only have movies for rent on blu ray now, and you don't own a blu ray player. but every other video store has DVDs and blu ray.

not trying to beat a dead horse, just trying to get my point across.

I'll try your tip tpk, at home. the mac I'm on now at work is retarded.

i'm with dorothy. no other forum has the screen size problem this board has. i tried tpk's suggestion, but it makes the text rather small.

blu ray has only been around for only two or three years

my shitty 50 dollar monitor from 2001(8 years ago!) can support the required resolution...

there was a point in time when websites were written for 800*600. then that progressed to 1024*768. now it's headed for 1280*1024.

it's just how shit works. if everything was kept the same, all websites would still be written for 800*600! that would be a really shitty website!

you can spout off all the numbers you want, doesn't change the fact that every other website I have ever visited on the whole internet has been able to resize itself to fit the browser.

I suppose you wouldn't know that, because your screen is a billion miles wide so you've never experienced it.

I really don't care that much, I'm obviously used to it by now. it would just be nice to not have to scroll.

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/

It's not the forum software that's keeping it from resizing, it's the fancy header with the buttons etc, that are static images and cannot be shrunken past the width that they are, and that keeps the forum from shrinking...

Everything is set at 1079px wide.

every other website I have ever visited on the whole internet has been able to resize itself to fit the browser.

These other sites might currently fit YOUR browser, but for other people, they may not, as all of the sites below do not resize.

If my screen was set at 800x600 some of the largest sites on the internet would force me to scroll....

http://www.yahoo.com/ 950 wide..

http://www.msn.com/ 985 wide.

http://www.facebook.com/ Login screen, 964 wide.

http://www.youtube.com/ 962 wide.

http://kotaku.com/ 1000 wide.

I'm sure that Minton and TPK will have some sort of solution next go around...

like silence7 pointed out, and that i've pointed out as well, the menu bar on top is what keeps the board this wide. it has a fixed/static/constant width and is what is causing the board to not "resize" itself.

yeah, I get it guys, I'm not stupid. I just don't know how to word things when it comes to computer business. resize schmresize.

my resolution is 1024x768, which is pretty normal/common.

fact of the matter is, 5 pixels coulda been shaved off each button to make the page fit 1024. as it is now, the 1079 looks goofy on 1280 anyway (oh, I've seen it! I may not have a fancy computer, but some of my friends do.) big black bars, huge. oppressive. EVIL. okay, i'm exaggerating.

it's just strange is all, illogical.

but, whatever, the "ctrl -" totally works so, hooray! thanks tpk! sorry I'm such a crab. using ratios to create visual impact is kinda my job, so I am extra picky.

1024*768 has been getting phased out....

most screens have been atleast 1280 wide for years....
