Truth is, more Dems (the ones that aren't brainwashed into thinking they'll all get rich off you) are stepping off the ObamaBandWagon. They don't like where we're heading, and especially when ya get people like Pelosi in front of a mic, it makes the entire party look pathetic. Just as many have done for the Republicans.
It's a total clusterfuck in DC, and they're all to blame.
actually, fifty guantanamo detainees (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/21/obama-50-guantanamo-detai_n_206496.html) have been cleared for transfer. and harry reid might be open now to relocating detainees and closing gitmo (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/21/reid-obama-speech-opens-w_n_206418.html).
in fact, omar abdel-rahman, the man behind the world trade centre bombing in 1993, as well as other convicted terrorists, have been held in american prisons since that time.
no one has ever escaped from a federal supermax prison, which includes 347 convicted terrorists being held in federal prisons throughout the us.
even conservative republican senator lindsey graham is right on this issue, when he said "The idea that we cannot find a place to securely house 250-plus detainees within the United States is not rational," (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/20/senate-votes-to-block-fun_n_205797.html).
i think what is most alarming about this is that this has nothing to do with some sort of broken promise, failure or lame attempt at a partisan jab. this has to do with the credibility of the united states and its standing in the world. do you want america to be viewed in the same light as china and north korea? guantanamo bay has come to represent the very worst of the last eight years: torture, abuse, and the complete violation of law and ethics. great nations don't torture. the fact that obama wants to close guantanamo and have the prisoners there tried in us courts, you know, as a normal nation which adheres to the rule of law, is very commendable.
