I know he has his moments on the mic when he'll scream. Like in Sure Shot when he says "SO WONTCHA LISTEN!!!!!!!" but he only does it through short bursts now. Those two links when he's screamin' through Live @ PJ's & Flute Loop, he just sounds so awesome. He still does when he screams, he just doesn't do it as much anymore, and it sucks.

Just my $0.02

I'm glad somebody agrees with me :D

I know during those two videos I posted, AdRock was completely faded. Unless that had something to do with his obsession with screaming at the time, I don't know, lol. But I wish he would go back to doing that. Adam, go get faded and start screaming on the new record! lol.

That shit is what made me "fall in love" with Adrock. All those live cuts on the Root Down EP are the same. Great era, but no way you can do that for any extended period of time. Rough on the throat.

Yeah...cosignin' pshabi!

For a comparative reference...Here's November 08's live performance of Flute Loop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TlRGuC9tX4) right after Super Disco Breakin'.

Not too shabby.

Not too shabby at all. Definitely different though. Still, can't believe these dudes @ this stage in their career still get down LIKE THAT. Illy.

I always hated that shit. So glad he outgrew it.

Dude, how can you hate when he screams? It's so awesome. I know it's hard on the throat, but he can still pull off the screaming when he wants too, and it's fucking amazing. I wish he would do it more often. Or wish he knew how awesome he sounded so he'd do it more!

Also, after watching that video from 08' of Flute Loop... there are certain songs I wish MMM would leave alone... Flute Loop being one of them. NSTB, and So Whatcha Want are a few others that I feel MMM should just leave alone.

A lotta years, beers and cigarettes since then. It wouldn't be the same now, but it's nice on occasion like that Flutus Eruptus performance Laver Lav linked up.

I don't hate in small doses (SO WONTCHA LISTEN!?!?), but the way he used to do it, for example So What'cha Want on the Sabotage DVD just got annoying to me.

i think hello nasty captured the illest of his shrillest, in my opinion.

but yeah, doin that shit night after night at his age could really shred his vocal chords. a tame horovitz is better than a mute horovitz. he'd prolly end up sounding like yauch after a tour of that kinda voice strain.

You've only got to look at what happened to DMC.

I'm sure there's a few old threads around here about whether people like or dislike MMM switching up the beats. I was just having this conversation last week in Santa Monica with some other beastie geeks.

When MMM joined the guys on the 98 In The Round tour it really bothered me how he was "changing their songs" and that they really shouldn't be messed with. I've since come to appreciate how talented MMM and what he brings to the tables...literally. I think it's incredible that he drops We Will Rock You into the middle of No Sleep! He put the PeeWee beat in on Do It. I love the breathe sample on SWW. Sometimes it doesn't work...but most of the time he is pretty much right on in my book.

I've never seen the bboys without MMM. I think back to all the shows I've been to in the last ten years (8-10, I think) and I can't imagine it any other way. I don't think I'd be inclined to go and see them as much. It'd be different if they were dropping albums every year or two, but there isn't enough "new" material. IMO, they couldn't do w/o MMM at this point. It would suck.

NSTB and Flute Loop I agree with. NSTB cuz it's a complete universal classic, Flute Loop cuz they don't play it enough. But So Watcha Want is like my favorite shit when they throw that Fabulous beat on. So sick.

I'm not knockin' MMM,cause I love MMM. He's one of, if not the greatest DJ that has ever lived, and him and the Beastie's just vibe so well together.

Yes, I agree that Flute Loop isn't played enough. NSTB should be left alone, and when he used to put beats over So Whatcha Want, I couldn't stand it. But the beat he drops during the part where Mike D says "Well my names Mike D and I'm a married man" etc. That beat right there fits so perfectly and is so awesome, and actually my fav part of the song. But other than that, I think he should leave the song alone.

As for the one guy who posted "AIFST - Hello Brooklyn" Yeah, it's awesome. He sounds so cool. But it's cool when he does it through a whole song like he used too. Or just the majority of the song. Like those links I posted. When they played live at PJ's on Letterman, AdRock was screaming through the whole thing and just sounded so awesome. During Flute Loop he was screaming for the first 30 or so seconds, and he just sounded so great.

That's what made me really like AdRock was his screaming. Now he just does it in short bursts. But hopefully he can bust out a few more screams for a little longer on the up-coming tour.

When they really vibe, they use gasoline powered dildos to scratch the records and play the drums, while they all sit in massage chairs a-a-a-n-d- r-r-r-ra-a-a-a-p-p-p-p l-l-l-l-i-i-i-i-i-i-k-k-k-k-e th-th-th-i-i-i-i-s-s-s-s-s

I feel you on that one and I'm glad you pointed that out. I've noticed all of their voices have become softer and softer each album. Vocally, I feel their best album was Paul's Boutique and I also liked their voices on licensed to ill. I feel like Adrock doesn't have that same grit he used to, which made his voice my favorite.
