So sad. I can't imagine not knowing where a loved one might be and whether they were even still alive.

I'm pretty sure that the area where the plane disappeared wasn't covered by radar. They may have to look at satellite imagery to get some clues.

And having a bunch of cameras shoved in your face whilst you are trying to cope. Christ. I was just watching CNN and they showed these shots of friends & family being moved from one part of the airport to another, getting on a bus, and it was like, they have to squeezed through this barely shoulder-wide human corridor of security guards, who are holding back dozens of people with giant cameras all crowing in to get their perfect shot of someone else's misery so they can sell it. Disgusting. I don't understand why, in these situations, it is not possible to restrict photographers to a distance of at least a few metres. They can still get their pictures, but at least the poor relatives can walk 20 steps without having lenses literally pushed into their noses. Fucking parasites.

Planes dissapearance is something recurrent in history,

here is the proof (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/5429539/Air-France-crash-mystery-of-plane-disappearances.html)

It is a mystery, with all the technological equipement, i am very surprised that nothing has been found so far well, there is some finding (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/06/02/air-france-jet-disappearance-debris-spotted-in-the-ocean-115875-21409279/) But they are not sure if these debris are related to the airfrance plane in question.

I would be afraid to take the plane atm...:D..

^Well, the debris are related to the crash. earlier today in the news, euronews that is, there were not sure yet. Well, it is a good thing they have found it and it must be '' some sort of relief '' for the family.

I've been listening to black box recordings of cockpit conversations at the point of the crash. I've worked out that the little automated voice going "Boop Boop! Pull Up! Boop Boop! Pull Up!" can't be very helpful.

Japan Air in 1985, flight 123. The crew on that kept it airborne for 32 minutes with next to no controls (severed hydraulics). None of the simulator crews in the investigation were able to come close.

My dad flew Lancasters in WW2 (yes, he was an old bastard) and bombed Dresden. I often thought I'd like to be a pilot.

Whatever happened to Air France, they either plummeted to their doom in a brightly lit plane, or a pitch black one. Given that the descent would have taken a couple of minutes, I can't say which I'd find worse. Poor buggers.
