because most people no longer want to see their pages flooded with "What are you most like" and "5 things."
While I have no doubt its a great way to kill sometime, my page is overwhelmed and its not fun. Facebook is all about the fun. All.

I want to take the "How well do you know Echewta" quiz
because most people no longer want to see their pages flooded with "What are you most like" and "5 things."

I'm totally guilty of indulging in those stupid quizzes. I try to remember not to publish the results because I know no one cares but me, but sometimes I forget. :(

facebook is turning into exactly what it wasn't supposed to "be"
I find it funny how people have like 500+ high school and college friends just because they went to the same school, were in the same class, and maybe went to the same party at some time.
I do not find it funny that so many of the people I used to stay in touch use facebook as their base of communication now and everyone is like "join facebook" and I'm like no.....that is an internet trend I do not wish to join.
This is the only message board I frequent compared to the 10 boards I used to post on 10 years ago. AIM is rarely used compared to chatting with multiple people at the same time and my email addresses have dwindled. It's like my friends and family have discovered the joys of communicating on the internet when I'm actually getting sick of it.
Also, Facebook can be used against you

I think the quizzes are fun. :/ although I do have to limit myself. I only post one if I think it's funny.
the thing I like about facebook is that a bunch of my friends that never used to be on the internet are on there and I can see what they're up to, and social arrangements are more easily made, and better attended.
(y)
(also, I've blocked a few people who update incessantly with boring stuff)

Also the apps on facebook are there purely to gain information about you for marketing/other purposes.
This is why I dont sign up to any

even the one that tells you what kind of dinosaur/weapon combo you would take into battle?
edit: I'd also like to point out that I don't have my real name or any personal info on facebook. the internet can suck it with all this putting your actual name out there. pfft.
the apps are annoying. way back i signed up for this oregon trail app because i was like "hey, you have died of dysentery, peperoni and chease, i remember that game, cool" and then eventually it somehow turned into this online dating app called "speed date". and i tried to unjoin it, but in order to do so i need to give it access to more of my personal information
so now every day i get crap from that, people will think i'm into online dating. i'm not! well i am, but not on facebook!

I have one friend there who seems to live all her life on the internets, so many sites that she posts on and how many applications she has on FB.
I've blocked most of them cause I'm so tired of getting updates on them. I'm quite glad I'm there after all,
I've made a few new friends and become way more social IRL because of that as well.
this mafia wars thing is annoying me

I admit taking shitty quizzes and top 5's.I used to like it the way it was though. It is apps flooded right now and there's some friends on there who have some twitter link that let's me know exactly when they are having a shit.
it's a good way of keeping in contact with a lot of people who aren't on Myspace or here though.
it's just retarded fun for all the family though(y)

the question I have for those afraid of having their thoughts and ideas appropriated is this...would you rather have things and idea marketed to you that you like, or would you rather be manipulated into buying and/or participating in things that you think you might "like"?
eh?
in my opinion, there is an art to marketing and it's not really that bad of a thing if the items that are marketed are less wasteful in a way because they are specific to society's needs and wants, rather than what people would have you need and want.
this is speaking from a point of view of a person who is virtually impervious to marketing (unless you count fast food and chain restaurant ads, which get me pumped, but rarely ever actually lead me to purchasing said food items, i.e., I want to eat the food in applebees commercials, but haven't set foot in one since 1998).

myspace.
So you know how they have the "suggestions" option on Facebook? Like friends of friends or groups your friends are part of, blah blah blah.
Occasionally if someone keeps showing up i check out to see who I know that knows them.
Today there was someone that kept coming up. So I said to myself "hmmm i wonder who i know that knows this person." so I clicked on her name. None of my friends are friends with this person. None of my "networks" are the same as this person. I see no facebook connectivity with this person. Then I look at the picture and the girl's dude looked familiar in her profile peekchore.
And it was someone from this board...and I have no friends on this board. Weird eh? Very random. Much like this post.
I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this lame post....so thats why its here.

I kind of hate those suggestions. My uncle came up on mine. :( I'm guessing via my email address book? which is fucked up because I'm pretty sure I told facebook that I didn't want them to use my address book to find friends.
I can't wait to change my username.

same sort of thing, my sister found mine then my mom found it... some of the higher ups at work and so on and so on, shit it was full of punk rock/gangsta hip hop videos and circus freak stuff that offended most of them.
I just ramped it up a bit more to see if they would leave me alone and they wouldn't. Because they wanted to know which females I was talking too, bottomline.
snoopy snooping snoopers is what they are, I quit because we all live within a few miles of each other, seemed incredibly bizarre to all of a sudden give up the last bit of privacy I did have plus people I don't recall ever having even the smallest amount of fun with wanting on there to tell me when they're going to the store and stuff.
I hate seeing ads/pages I want to see on the right exactly when I click on something else, hit back, and it's gone.
......actually, that pretty much applies to the internet in general.

If there's a single person doing the tests then just hide their activity. It cleans up your mini feed and you don't have to delete anyone.
I find it more annoying that there is an English (Pirate) language setting. Your Facebook becomes indecipherable.

HAPPY USERNAME DAY!!!
i like facebook for networking and keeping in touch with friends and acquaintances who you don't want to lose touch with, and i also think it's a great indicator of who is dick and who isn't. i recently found a good friend of mine who i lost contact with over the last three years. we used to work out together at two different gyms, i took him to a gangstarr concert, went to movies, had him over to a get together of mine for my closest friends, and he confided a lot of personal shit to me etc. anyways i got in touch with him, reminded him who it was and then i realize the next day he rejected my request. another good friend of mine who knows him too was perplexed as well, but just said fuck em, because hey if they're going to be a douche than they're not worth your time.

I must be a huge douche, I joined and though I never denied anybody from being a facebook friend ('cept some people I really didn't know that seemed sort of like trolls, as if they wanted to sell me something) I did just one day say "Fuck This" and quit facebook.
So they must think I think I'm too good for them now. When in actuality I just think it's narcissistic and juvenile. The sad news is this, I'm not that cool and they aren't that interesting to warrant a daily update on the internet.
