View Full Version : zombie question
so people turn into zombies when they get bitten by zombies, right?
but whenever you see a movie about zombies, and people get caught by zombies, they don't just get bitten, they get utterly devoured by them, with their limbs ripped off and their guts torn out. it's not like the zombies go "right, we caught you *chomp chomp* ok, you're one of us now, off you go!" it's more like "right, we're starving, we're going to eat you until you're a pile of flesh"
so where do all these zombies come from?

They come from zombie fucking.
Haven't you ever seen Dead Alive? Jeez, Bob.

and i haven't seen dead alive but i have played dead rising and the lady zombies do try to give you blowjobs (or bite your dick off maybe i can't tell) so i guess that makes sense

If you have netflix, queue that shit immediately. It's disgusting. (y)
There is zombie porn. It's a "once you see it, you can't unsee it" kinda thing.
I guess they come from the best friends of all the main characters. You know, the useless ones that get bit on the arm and say their heartfelt goodbyes and die and turn into zombies.

Why do some people become zombies and why do some people die?

The problem is that there are a lot of zombie films with different rules and types of zombie. But using the more recent (and slightly more 'sensible') films then not all people get completely eaten by the zombies. You always get the bunch of good guys in a close spot with the zombies, they all get away but oh no, one has an injury! He hides the injury for as long as he can, but then it's too late!
Also, unless you were totally surrounded by zombies with no escape, it'd be quite easy to get away from them but of course, you may suffer a bite and then it'd be too late.

if you get away from the zombie then your body gets infected with the virus and then it takes over your brain stem, and you become a zombie.
the opposing side is you are devoured and thus nothing is left to become reanimated.

I sometimes wonder if zombies have interests outside of what we commonly associate with them. Like are some of them into sports, or have favorite tv shows? Do they hear certain songs and get all like, 'oh this song reminds me of that time when so and so did that crazy shit they did with the thing, remember that shit?'

I want to see this. It's a new movie taken from the zombie's perspective and was made for peanuts but is getting the critcs' appraisals.

Personally I think zombies are like anything that hasn't eaten for a while so that's why they 'pig-out' on some victims like I did last week after the pub and ordered a large pizza from dominos

if one zombie bites a person then they turn, if multiple zombies have a buffet on somebody then they're dead. this is zombie 101.

i dunno though, zombies seem like pretty hungry things. i mean they're always stumbling around looking for someone to eat, you never see a zombie that's just kind of chilling out by himself all "no thanks, i'm full for now". so even if it's just a single zombie, it's probably going to eat you to the point where you're useless. and besides, how often do people get caught by individual zombies? not often enough to form the horde, i'll tell you that much
It really depends on what zombie series you're looking at. I never understood some of the later Romero movies where zombies would devour a warm body.
The way I see it - since they can't really eat or feel hunger, the action of chasing and killing is just sort of a base instinct, and that instinct goes away once the warm blood ceases to draw them. Otherwise they'd just eat any other moving zombie.
As for the "oh well I'm full" thing - some series have different zombies, like some don't really function that well and just sort of stumble around in corners while others sprint at you... which makes more sense to me. You should read "The Walking Dead."

zombies have ADD, they are like dogs sorta.
PERSON

NOISE

PERSON
CHASE PERSON
WHAT IS DOOR
SMASH SMASH
BITE PERSON

PERSON
CHASE PERSON
therefore, no person is ever fully devoured. They are alot like people who chronically go to McDonalds or Flea Markets all the time really.

I thought zombies wanted to eat brains, not whole bodies. I think they're pretty stupid though, so they probably don't know exactly where to bite to get to a brain and just chomp and chomp all over and hope for pay dirt.
you know, because being dead hurts and brains are the only thing that ease the pain. I heard that somewhere I think.

But that can't account for the sheer volume of the zombies!
If every one was the injured dude who held out for death there wouldn't be as many zombies as there are.

Well at first it would be like that, but as there eventually got more and more zombies, they'd be biting more and more people and there would be less survivors. I know the films normally show it from being completely normal to millions of zombies in a matter of hours, but it wouldn't be quite like that. And of 6 billion people in the world, there is going to be enough zombies soon!

I'll say it again. Most zombies were not bitten at all!
"When there's no more room in hell, the dead shall walk the earth."
This means that everyone who dies (for no matter what reason), or who has just died, becomes a zombie. Zombie films always begin with news reports stating "blahblahblah... the dead are coming back to life... etc". The majority of zombies are the dead people who died recently enough to reanimate, be it through car crashes, shooting incidents, old age, etc. Some of the dead are also taken to hospitals before they reanimate, so they attack hospital workers etc. which leads to secondary infections.
You would think some of you would've paid attention in zombie 101. Sheesh.

I wonder if there will ever be a "Twilight" type series where a teenage girl falls in love with a zombie.
"When there's no more room in hell, the dead shall walk the earth."
Thing is - there's a lot of series where really almost no zombies come from bodies dead before the apocalypse.
There's a couple practical reasons for this:
1) Their bodies were decayed enough before the spread of the "virus" or whatever, and not enough connections left in their body to make motor function possible.
2) Once animated, they were nevertheless buried 6ft underground. Lacking the cognitive function to figure out any special way out, the would simply claw pointlessly at their casket until either decaying back into rest or destroying their body trying to un-bury themselves.

I agree with Waus.
Free, your statement is relevant if the rules of the Father applies, aka Romero. Which really, is how it should be. But there are so many zombie stories out there now that it really depends on which 'style' one is speaking of.
Still, Romero all the way. Except those last two installments. His heart was in the right place but it wasn't well executed.
