Last christmas I made a plum pudding and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. It was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten, no contest. It was amazing. To try to explain exactly what it tasted like, saying it had brandy in it, spices, raisins, and butter....that doesn't even do it justice.
I made it about 3 days after Thanksgiving, and it sat in the fridge until I warmed it up on Christmas day. Don't be freaked out, that's how you're supposed to enjoy it. It gets better with age. Besides, it had so much brandy in it, nothing could have survived - including any memories I had of past food loves, once that spongey delight hit my tongue.
It was kind of pain to make, to steam it for 5 hours and to wait an entire month to enjoy it. I've found some recipes for other puddings that don't require so much patience. Some of them were baked, some steamed.
English people, do you enjoy puddings very often? Do you make them very often? What kinds? Are they only for special occasions? Tell me things about them, please.
