Cancer research specialist...but my aptitude for math and sciences was and still is completely inadequate…or Ice Breaker Skipper or Coast Guard…but both required working within a paramilitary structure and my tolerance for absolute authority is nil…

i wanted to be the usual.. footballer, pop star, film star and then i when i realised i wasnt talented enough for all that i didnt have a clue! still dont! I suppose i would like to be a music producer but only realised very late in life that when i started messing about with music and pc's and built up a bit of confience. i guess that was my problem when i was younger as i didnt have enough confidence to believe i could be good at summat.
i'm not gonna force my kids into anything but i want to impress on them that they should do something they enjoy and work hard towards doing it for a living but i think thats gonna be easier said than done

From the age of 5 untill I was about 10/11 I wanted to be a paleonthologist. I had scientific books about dinosaurs (in English!) and had dinosaur wallpaper and everything...
Then my interest shifted to music and now I still want to do something in that direction. Though I probably never will, as I'm studying English.

1. Big League Pitcher - I pitched all the way up to HS.
2. Drummer in a rock band - Took the drums for 4 years. Knew how to read sheet music and the whole nine.
3. Truck Driver - I use to live across the street from this deli where a lot of truckers use to stop for lunch. They sold baseball cards, so I was always in there. Truckers were always pulling out a knot of cash in there so I thought they must be loaded.
4. Ninja - Pretty self-explanatory.
5. Drug Dealer - No shit. My friends dad was a major dealer. He always had trashbags full of weed and sawed-off shot guns laying around the house and he always had hot girls around and great cars.
So from about the age of 10, I wanted to be just like him.
and I guess I was for a while when I sold, but not nearly on the level of Mr. Ditch.

something to do with sports, like being a sportswriter or somehow being a statistician (i used to pore over cricket scores and the stats on the back of basketball cards)
if that panned out, i guess the pinnacle would be to write articles like john hollinger for espn.com
it didnt pan out
i'm still entertaining thoughts of being a comedian. i even have a little notebook full of jokes. someday i'm going to find an open mike and give it a try...some day.......

i wanted to be the bloke who sits with the commentators on the soccer and tells them all the interesting little facts about players or count how many passes each player had made but i guess they have computers for that now.

bob, if you are scared to face the people then whats stopping you telling jokes to a camera and stickin it on tinternet?
i am sure some people on here would tell you what they honestly thought, maybe that might give you the confidence or it might not.
if you have already done/thought about this then i'll shut up.

That was part of why I wanted to be a TV Weatherman when I was a kid, it wasn't news and it wasn't sports, it was just weather and if it was average like 90% of the time I could throw in a joke.
Captive audience is what it's all about, even if it is just folks wanting to know whether to bring a sweater or not.

Up until like 9th and 10th grade I was super serious about being a director/screenwriter. My best friend and I had it all planned out. When I look at my stuff from back then I was just like "omg I really thought I was going to do that..." Then I wondered what made me face reality that I wasn't going to move to California and be a famous movie director/screenwriter.
Now I want to be an English professor/poet and she wants to be a nurse.
