My 18-year-old cousin, who was planning on entering seminary school, just got a bright red DO NOT ENTER sign tattooed on his lower back. I'm still so shocked that I can't even form an opinion yet. It's just a big "what?!"

I knew a guy who had his own name tattooed on his ankle.

tattoos are, for the most part, retarded as the vast majority of people who get them are halfwits and think flaming eightballs, Chinese letters, and playing cards are cool.

Stupid Tattoos are awesome! On other people.

the "I'm Gonna Kill You, Ray Romano" tattoo is the best stupid tattoo ever.

Or the nun fucking herself with a crucifix and it says "Doing it out of Habit" underneath.

I think any looney tunes character is stupid. I mean, for the rest of your life??!

My boyfriend's sister got the chinese symbol for 'faith' on her inner wrist. She's not Chinese in anyway, and doesn't even seem to exhibit the faintest interest in Chinese culture. I don't even think she likes Chinese food. And as for faith, the only thing she seems to be faithful about is tanning. Besides that, inner wrist? She's not a creative-type, and most other types of jobs expect you to cover your tattoos. What's she going to do, wear long sleeves every day? Wrist bands? She's 18.

My brother, dead father, and I all have the Pi symbol tattooed to ourselves because Pye was my Grandmother's madien name. I wanted to get mine covered up, but now that he's dead, I'll probably keep it....

a good friend of mine has a couple of japanese characters or letters as tattoos, and yeah it's pretty cliche. i never got into that whole tattoo/piercing fad, and never saw the appeal of it.

I was totally into the tattoo/piercing fad but I was too poor and chicken to go through with it. Now I'm thankful. I did get my earlobes pierced three times each, though, and I got my upper ear cartilage pierced on one side. I regret them. Now I only ever wear one pair of earrings at a time and the other holes cause me inner shame.

I have three tattoos, I don't think they're stupid.

But I do know people with stupid tattoos. A friend from high school has Winnie the Pooh hanging from a balloon on her shoulder. I never understood that.

yeah, those I never understand. That or ugly tattoos. You know, the cheesy jailhouse type of tats. It just makes me wonder why. And I know a few people that go to a tattoo place and pick something off their wall/books within 10 minutes and say "okay!"

I would think deciding on a tattoo would take some thought, and since it's forever, would be something you'd find meaningful.

Whatever though.

i love my stupid tattoos, but i dont think anyone but me and my dad think they're really stupid. they're both small and well thought out. The one on my wrist is small enough to be easily covered by a wristwatch. the other one is somewhere you can only see if i wear a bikini, and even then, maybe not (it's like nearly under my arm on my back, at about the height of my boob). they're both meaningful in some way to me, and when i get my third one, stupid still, it will have its own special significance to me. and it also won't be somewhere really tacky. my piercings... i love them. i love the scars from where piercings used to be, and i love the ones i still keep.

I wish my body responded well to piercings :(

Except for the two in my ears, it's never worked out. My body acts like it's fine with them, then months later wants to reject them. It starts building extra scar tissue around the piercing and it becomes such a hassle.

I'm jealous.

I just dont like tribal tattoos.

But close to it at the same time very different I kind of like to have this done my back shoulder blades bridging around the back part of the neck. Kind of some way like this but going with a different design.

I have 3 skulls with clouds in the background and they're singing into a mic which is an eyeball.

My own design and partially my own work as well. Yeah, I was 19 when I got it, first thing that came into my mind when I decided to get a tattoo as a teen was of course, SKULLS!!.

I dunno, I still like it, it's colorful, the clouds are purple and nobody else has it but me.

I do totally love tattoos but it's so hard to know that you're always gonna want it- i'm still happy with one i had when i was 16 and i have two others, one that i've got plans to cover and another that i've just started to think about adding to.
I knew a guy who had "special brew" on his forehead-he died of a drug overdose so didn't have to explain it to his grandkids or anything.
was just this morning looking at some pics from the NY tattoo show-most of them i didn't get!!
And i do quite like my piercing scars-the one on the side of my lip isn't big but fairly noticeable(i got it done with a piercing gun when drunk) but i kinda like it.
I've got to admit-i only like about 5% of all the tattoos i've ever seen-there is some truly hideous work about-and what about getting a band to sign your arm and then getting it tattooed over, what are the odds you might not, at some point in your life , be as into that band as you were at that moment in time.

I have 2 in the red area (forearm) and 2 in the green (bicep).

I've always worked hard and pay taxes.

Tattoos are associated with criminal gangs, the armed forces

Got mine before the service. I was just young, thought tattoos were cool if done correct but not overdone.

If I were to go back in time, I probably wouldn't have gotten them on my forearm and would have just gotten them on my upper arm.

yeah i got one red, one dark green and one other green! there's a guy i see about who looks like he's about 20 and both his arms are completely covered-but he has the dice and eight-balls style thing going on but it looks good.

i'm just massively relieved i never got one on my forearm, i don't think they look bad on a guy, just don't look right on a girl i think

I fell asleep once, breifly. I was laying on the massage table while having my calf done, after getting very little sleep the night before. I can't imagine falling asleep while having your face done, under what would surley be an exrordinary amount of pain.

Mine are on ankle, top of the foot and back of the neck. There's no way anyone is falling asleep while getting foot or ankle, unless they simply pass out from the pain. Back of the neck didn't hurt at all. I'm thinking about getting more work done on that one.

Funny, I thought I was done and now I have the urge again.

Teen reportedly admits she asked for tattoos
Dad's outrage over 56 stars led her to give false account of falling asleep

msnbc.com staff and news service reports
updated 1 hour, 39 minutes ago

BRUSSELS - A Belgian teenager who had 56 stars tattooed on the side of her face admitted that she had lied about knowing what happened because she was afraid of her father's reaction, British media reported.

Kimberley Vlaeminck told a Dutch TV crew that she made up the whole story because her father became angry after he saw her star-covered face, The Telegraph reported on Monday.

The 18-year-old initially claimed she had fallen asleep during the procedure, and woke up in pain when her nose was being tattooed.

Vlaeminck had told police she emerged from a tattoo parlor with 56 stars over one side of her face, rather than the three she had asked for. She even threatened to sue tattoo artist, Rouslan Toumaniantz, for the thousands she needed for laser surgery to have them removed.

She blamed the Flemish-speaking tattooist for not understanding her French and English instructions.

But she told Dutch TV this week, "I asked for 56 stars and initially adored them. But when my father saw them, he was furious."

The tattoo artist also said Vlaeminck had agreed to 56 stars.

"She agreed, but when her father saw it, the trouble started," Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws quoted the man as saying.

Vlaeminck said she wanted to keep the tattoos on her forehead but would have the rest removed.

And for Toumaniantz?

Toumaniantz, who is covered from head to toe in tattoo artistry, said the only thing he was disappointed in was having an unhappy client.

"I don't regret it. To tell you the truth, this has given me some publicity," Toumanaintz told The Telegraph.

He will now require written consent from clients before any procedure, he said.

I've always wanted to get inked but never thought of the right design or gone through with it. I'm no artist so can't design myself but I've played about with GIMP (like an open sourced photoshop, not an actual gimp) but never come up with anything.

I just need it to feel right. But I love tattoos on other people - not stupid one obviously but I've seen some great ones. Something to remember my mother and father would be cool since they died so close together but I still have no clue what. I don't want their faces or anything, just something that looks cool that only close friends, family and I would really know.

But some of these I've seen make me glad I've never rushed into one.
