Mic-to-Mic is reporting that they did in fact do a track with Nas. The title is listed as "too many rappers." I thought I'd clear that up because I figured acamus was just commenting that 4 MCs together was just too much.
Now, let me say this:
HOLY SHIT, NAS????? NEED VID NOW!

Texted PaulB, who's at the show. He rated the Nas track a 10/10.

Two of NY's finest! The bboys could probably get anyone on the planet to do a track with them.
I would occasionally wonder what it would be like to hear the Boys and Nas do a cut together, and now I will soon find out. Funny that.
But yeah, video please.

Most likely going to be dope as fuck cause when the bboys are in the presence of respected members of the "hip hop" community they always come correct.

Wanna hear the others. It's a little bit juxtaposed, but if Nas pulls back a bit and the boys go hard then there should be a nice middle ground. Certainly seems to be. MCA always flows the best, I'd love to hear him on this (very enjoyable) beat.

I recall a few years back there was some blurb posted up on this board about the Beastie Boys working with Nas for a cut on the new Nas record, but when the new Nas record was released, there was no Beastie/Nas collaboration. I'm thinking this track has been finished for a few years now and is just now going to be released on the new Beastie record.

Here's a half-baked theory...
TT5B and TMU were the beastie boys kind of amusing themselves...they made an old school album, then an instrumental album because that's what they were into at the time...but with this album they set themselves the aim to make more tracks that are, by anyone's standards and irrespective of genre, kick ass / fire / hot sauce....hence the title Hot Sauce Commitee.
This Nas track and Lee Majors make me think that - they're both definitely hot sauce when compared to lukewarm soup of TMU and TT5B.
That's my theory.

Tadlock - Awesome name for album, not sure why they would change.
H S C - Ehhhhh; not too crazy about this or TMU titles.
Lee M.C.A. - Fantastic, splendid, different but nothing has gotten me more excited for their new material than this.....can't wait to hear a proper version all cranked out and whatnot.
BBCA - Lyrics and raps and flows and content....Mike shines, love every bit of his nonsense especially the monkey flow. Good start.
EL Bando - If this is the music then yuk, sounds cheap....honestly sounds like something I could have done on Acid or something and that is saying nothing. At first I thought it was cool, then ok, now I just really don't like it at all. It is subpar and cheap and I expect better.
Nas Song - Not sure what to think honestly. Hard to say about actual song based only on the videos but I will say that the energy and excitment are nice. But Nas? Really? I know he is supposed to be great and yada yada yada, I don't know much about him but I have heard some; a lot of his stuff deals with shit they oppose and or content they generally make fun of. But I get it he's a badass genius right? Hmmmmmm, not what I expected. Tip was different, he's like the hippy MC, more like them, this just feels wierd. Sorry but I had a Crown Royal flash and I didn't like it. But they seemed to have been having fun and happy so I'll go with it........just feels wierd. Collaborating which they don't generally do for albums, and with him who is the opposite of them.
Is everyone really happy they did a collab with Nas? Really???

Aren't they (The Boys) just hip-hop fans when you really break it down? A lot of their content could be seen to be dealing with shit some of Nas' music opposes, too. But it's hip-hop, right? Half of the instrumentals they use live, in their full form say shit that the Boys are opposed to (Simon Says in particular).
It's not about being a badass genius. Nas has been trying to push his musical boundaries of late ( even since Stillmatic you could say - he's recording a collab album with Damian Marley at present), and that same ethos is pretty much what the Beastie Boys have encapsulated in the last 20 or so years. Surely them coming together to make something unexpected is reflective of that?
While it is a little weird (and I feel you on the Crown Royal thing - too many collaborations, not enough tunes), I'd suggest going and listening to some more Nas music. Since the 80s the Beasties have gotten their respect for being real (Run DMC's "Real recognise real" quote comes to mind), not trying to play a role. Nas does the same, if you discount I Am and Nastradamus (and even then it was really more that those albums were weak more than anything).
Makes sense to me, and it sounds good. If it sounds good, then yes, I am happy.
EDIT: Somebody will get on my nuts for not mentioning Illmatic or songs like 'I gave you power' in the whole creative thing. Yes I was really just referring to the whole post-Takeover fire he had lit up under him, but noted in advance for the fact checkers out there.

I've got to say I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet, but right now I wouldn't say I'm exactly "happy" about it. Before everyone jumps on my nuts I will say that I'm digging the song itself, but I don't want to listen to it too much until there is a proper version (same as the other tracks that have been released). The music is awesome and the lyrics are nice, it's just weird after so many years of doing their own thing, even self-producing their albums, that they're starting to collaborate more. I mean we know very little about this album, but we know there are at least two collabs that were recorded for it (the one with Santigold being the other).
I don't know I'm also just thinking its odd who they chose to collaborate with. Nothing against Nas, just to me the Santigold collab makes sense because she's up and coming and such but a collab with someone that's been around so long... I don't know. I guess this was just a long way of saying "I hope there are not too many collaborations on this album."
Really enjoyed the music though and I hope there is more like it on the album.
And for the record I'm really feeling "Hot Sauce Committee" as the title.

Hmm... I think it's great they are doing more collaborations, and they are long overdue. They've been members of the hip hop community for almost 3 decades and I think they realize that if they are ever going to get some collaborations in, now is the time. I absolutely love it. Except as nice a Miho Hatori is as a person, she is pretty much amusical.
There is a little press about the set now. This is just one of them, and it seems overly harsh:
The Beastie Boys Roar Onstage at Bonnaroo
The trio are joined by rapper Nas, debut a new song, and completely fuck up a classic. Click here for a review!
There are three things you need to know about Beastie Boys' set at Bonnaroo Friday night:
1. The trio recruited fellow New York rapper Nas to join them onstage to debut a new hip-hop song off their upcoming fall release, Hot Sauce Committee.
2. They spent 60 percent of the show playing their instruments.
3. The Boys played many of their hits, from "Paul Revere" to "Intergalactic," to varying result -- surprisingly good, sorta bad, and completely, utterly, and embarrassingly ugly.
The 90-minute show was like a steamy romance with a co-worker -- it started great and ended in disaster.
With Mix Master Mix in a light-adorned booth, splicing Rage Against the Machine with older '60s soul jams, the rabble-rousing New Yawkers took the stage -- Ad-Rock and Mike D bouncing, and MCA in his cool saunter, lookin' like Thurston Moore in cords and a long-sleeve button-up. They snatched up their instruments and kicked into the show's best moment: fast and fuzzy punker "Time for Livin'" with Ad-Rock on the mic screaming uncontrollably in his obnoxious squeal. It was a loogie in the face -- a very warmly welcomed one.
Now in their mid-40s, the Beasties seem more comfortable with their instruments than with criss-crossing the stage, rapping, and throwing their hands in the air like the 22-year-old hip-hop brats that made "Beastie Boys" a household name. The same applies to their new track with Nas, who, when introduced, was met with a scream some 15,000 strong.
Musically, the song is excellent; the boys call out the overabundance of shitty rappers and give props to "real emcees" as a trunk-rattling beat rolls by like a Caddy down Brooklyn's Fulton Street. MCA, graying and looking like he was in need of a break from the thick-as-butter air (really, dude, what's with all the clothes? It's 90 degrees out!), walked aimlessly onstage, as Nas -- in all black clothes, shades, and a ball cap -- dropped rhymes between the three. Best lyric: "These rappers are rappin' like crap / They crappers!" spit Ad-Rock. Touché!
When the Boys returned to the instruments, the performance was intoxicating and convincing. A jazzy, jammy rendition of "Sabrosa," the best track off their obscure 1996 instrumental album The In Sound From the Way Out, was spot-on and tight, and placated the Phish fans nudging for prime real estate in the pit for the jam band's 11 P.M. set time. Ad-Rock looked at home behind his electric guitar on the riotous, head-banging "Heart Attack Man," with MCA anchoring his unhinged, ADD behavior with a calm facial demeanor. "Remote Control," another tune with the guys on their instruments, was one of set's best. Mike D stepped out from behind the drums, took the mic and spit his ode to robotic rule, pausing to mimic the computerized sounds -- "EEEEEEHHHHHH AAAAAHHHHHHHHE EWWWWWWAHHHHAH!!! -- with the crowd.
Which brings us to the completely, utterly, and embarrassingly ugly. Maybe they were tired, maybe they just haven't practiced the song, but either way, the Boys' take on the set closing "Sabotage" was cringe-worthy. Ad-Rock remarked on the first slip up -- "see people, no iPods and no backing tracks, this is real live music" -- but later when lyrics were jumbled, Mike D missed a drum beat, and MCA flubbed his bass line, causing the music to grind to a halt… the crowd was awkwardly silent. It was an obvious fuck up. The Boys looked at each other confusedly -- and many in the crowd turned to each other and wondered if they could even finish the song. They did -- revving it up to close out the show before walking offstage… briskly.
The Beastie Boys are still fresh and, as they showed with a few select rarities and classics, so is their prowess. They're still the Beastie Boys, but much less "boys" than -- gasp! -- men. Men who have kids, wives, homes, and instruments -- men who don't rock house parties or drink Hurricane Ice 40-oz.-ers... but throw Obama fundraisers and sip Stella Artois… Hell, Ad-Rock had a bottle with him onstage.

any show-goers wish to chime in on the sabotage flub? sounds like a laughable moment.
Kid Presentable
06-14-2009, 03:59 AM
Oh yeah I got it from Spin, so take from that what you may.
I have formed a theory on flubitude and its correlation to impending releases. Pre TT5B the Coachella performance was criticised for extensive flubs, with many even questioning if they'd bothered to rehearse at all. Of course, they'd just been recording an album, writing lyrics, etc.
It could be difficult for them to go from thinking about, breathing and doing nothing else but these new songs, only to push it aside to reconnect with the old shit, sitting on the newies until the album drops. Unless they rehearsed more, as the re-up of songs like Live at PJs showed during the Gala Events. I had a point, I'm sure.

Sorry, when I see columnists, and more importantly editors, let basic facts about the subjects they're writing about like this slip by without notice, I dismiss their entire publication.
"The In Sound" was a fucking compilation album.
It's like saying Sabotage is off their anthology album.
It's lazy journalism. This guy prolly googled "Sabrosa" and the first thing that came up was "In Sound".
M2M has a more informed opinion for cripes sake.

Agreed.
Also, there's nothing obscure about it really.
About "Sabotage", I would not care if I ever heard that song again.. bleh! Who cares how it was played in Bonnaroo? Did this donkey review anyone else's set and critique them?
