Perhaps it's a tad on the obvious side, but it's worth telling the stupid racist and/or prejudiced people that there's scientific research to back up the fact that they are damn stupid.

Says the guy who has never had a black person in his house.
I don't get the part where it says "the brains of white people process white and black faces differently from the moment they see them"
wouldn't that be true of any race? Article seems kinda loaded.

I mean uh, white people are born evil and should atone for their sins.

Says the guy who laughs at the term "institutionalized racism."

And let the record now show that I am currently living in Alexandria, VA (well, for the summer) and have now had a black person in my house (I think I threw a ticker tape parade just to show how diverse I am). Makes a difference when you have a more sizable black population than in Western Canada.

Yeah, we're friends with quite a few black people in DC but they have yet to visit us in Canada. We should tell them to try harder, that way Brett can say he's had black people in his Edmonton, Alberta house and be taken seriously on the internets.

A fine example of the campus fuckface mentality.
How much time and money was spent by Dartmouth on a study to prove racist people are stupid?
What a complete and utter lack of resources.
Fucking geniuses.

Also, just wondering what this has to do with politics?
Perhaps your white guilt just got the better of you today, Brett?

ALSO,

Nice cross-section of people they used for this.

Why was this study only performed on white males?
Shouldn't the same studies be done with other races of men?
And how about women, why weren't any women studied?

it only said it studied "white Dartmouth undergraduates," nothing about males specifically, just sayin'

but let's do race based research on an Ivy League University, that's not going to give us skewed results!

This is kind of stupid also. What about other prejudice? I'm pretty sure most of us here are prejudiced against republicans, so I guess that makes all of us pretty stupid also. There is really nothing to suggest that this research is exclusive to only race-based prejudice, other than the fact that the study is obviously skewed to only look at race-based prejudice. Because apparently that's the only prejudice that matters.

I'm not sure you guys read this article carefully.

it is definitely loaded, but it's pretty interesting. all they're saying is that when people are biased, their brains are so busy trying not to be racist that they lose the cognitive ability to pass the stroop test.

they didn't say that racists were stupid, they said that immediate bias makes your brain slow. and clearly these kids had such busy brains because they were trying not to be racist.

obviously this wasn't a conclusive study and needs to be continued and tested on people of all races. it's being done by undergrads and an assistant professor and I'm sure thousands of students are doing studies across the nation that nobody cares about. it's just being reported because racism is a hot button issue. I blame the reporter.

also, what the heck brett? this article is from 2003. any chance of follow up?

seriously though, using White undergrads at an Ivy League school, the only results that can be concluded is that "White Undergrads at Dartmouth" are biased.

And what's up with this Mickey Mouse research they are doing?

When you see the name Sally, you think of flowers, correct?

Now when you see the name LaQwanda, you think of pit bulldogs, correct?

Reminds me of the opening scene of Ghostbusters.

Have they done the same study at an HBCU, using a white researcher and using scary white names like John and William?

how about at a community college in the suburbs vs. BMCC or LACC?
