The first one I got sometime in the 80s. It was a kit that my dad had built in the late 70s. It was black, small and not that awesome.
The second one I got in 94. It was my grand-dad's old Radionette SM 65 De Luxe from 74. It had wood finish and was wide and low.
It had many issues during the 12 years that I used it.
The third one was the first one I paid for. In 07 I found a NAD 7020 for €40 at a second-hand market. NAD is an excellent brand, so I was happy with my find. It was from the early 90s, silver and awesome. Sadly it blew a fuse a year and a half later (during my annual party). After a checkup it turned out that it had much bigger damage. Which pretty much always is the case when the fuse blows.
The fourth one I got today. My first ever brand new one. It's a black Yamaha RX-379. Just your basic stereo receiver, no surround or any of that stuff.
I had big trouble getting it. I first went to a store 6 weeks ago to order a different one (these basic ones aren't in stores anymore, at least here. it's all fancy stuff). I got told that Sony were moving their whole stock from Denmark to Sweden, so it might take an extra week before I got it.
After two weeks and no call, I went to ask what the hold up was about. Issues with the move, I was told. After another two weeks I went there again. This time I talked to another guy and he found out that Sony stopped making that model, and that the guy that took the order had been away so he didn't know about that, which meant he couldn't tell me. They offered me other models, which of course were more expensive. I said no thanks and went to another store.
Ordered the Yamaha and was told that it would arrive quickly. A week later I went back and asked what the hold up was about. Turns out that the website they put their orders on was lying. It had said that there were over 30 in stock, in reality there were 0. But today, 6 weeks after I went to that first store, I finally got a new amp.
If you want you can guess which song I first played through it.
