i may have a good $$ job coming up, but if dis bitch dont put out, im thinking about selling my blood or balls or something

i knew an actress chick who sold her ovaries for like $12,0000. i dont think i could ever do something like that..

i think the worst thing i ever did for money was hand out flyers for $20 an hour, which actually turned out to be a lot of fun.. but i hated myself for having to do it. it wasnt so bad, everyone i worked with was an out of work actor or production person, i made the best of it.

whats the most dire situation you've been in. its not bad yet, but if i gets bad, i want to not feel so bad

Everytime I walk by someone who's passing out flyers and shoves it in my face, I say, "sure, I'll throw that away for ya" and crumple it up and toss it next to them.

i bet i wouldve talked you up and gotten you to make a paper plane out of it at least

note: most flyer people dont care what you do with it, so long as you take it

I've told this story before, but when I moved to chicago, I had 300 dollars and no job. then I broke my foot and needed surgery and was told to keep off my foot for 9 weeks. cort and I lived in a studio apartment with windows that faced a brick wall.

lotsa tuna sandwiches and mac and cheese. cort worked at a bakery and brought home day old stuff to supplement.

I had to borrow some moneys from the parents eventually.

but now look at me, I'm a thousandaire!

For sure I'd make a paper airplane if you passed it out, even if I didn't know you.

In flushing, they're rude with it. You try to make it clear that you don't want it and they shove it at you.

Fucking 20 bucks an hour sounds like a good deal. Hell, hook me up bro!

i wonder how much they pay those guys who stand out on corners to collect money for greenpeace/children's international/amnesty etc? i know they aren't actually members of the charity, they're employees of outside firms, but i'm curious how much they get paid. i wonder if they even raise enough money to cover their wages?

When I had some hard times being hooked on coke and shit, I used to work at these temp work places where you bust your ass for 8 hours and get paid only 30 bucks for it.

Waking up at 4am and going to some steaming hot barrel factory, getting off work, blowing what I made on some snort that didn't even last me but a few hours.

I also sold all of my music equipment for it once. My first bass went up my nose, basically.

More than you think. I did it once and basically less than half goes to charity. Maybe 25%. I use to do it for a cancer charity and it was excellent money but it makes you sad that you know so little of it is going anywhere. This is how it broke down for me:

Generally, there is a two man/woman team. One is money, security and driver and the other generally collects (if its a man and a women then the women would collect 99% of the time cus they tend to bring in the suckers). 50% of the collected total would go to the two collectors. Then the driver would get petrol money after that. Then it goes to the boss where we all sort the money out who would take their cut no doubt also and then it would eventually get sent off to the charity. I would imagine that less than 25% of it got into the charities coffers.

Thus I refuse to give them anything, even its a pretty girl being all smiley and flirty.

These people aren't bad people but when its the only job you can get and its good money, you tend to blank out the bad points. Like working for any company - think about it too hard and you know some1 is getting fucked over by them.

Fuck yeah, I hear that. I've been looking and I'm finding nothing. No income whatsoever right now - I might have to sign on unemployed (soul destroying).

When I first joined this board I was in the worst state. I was working at a donut shop, living mostly off rapidly dwindling savings. I didn't have a car (in Columbus, Ohio) and I was living in a basement with my art school boyfriend. I ate a lot of pancakes. I found out that you can make them without milk or eggs, just water and pancake mix. It will sustain you. But not for long. I had to move to IL to move in with my parents, eventually. Shame. I'm sorry, world. I failed at being an adult. But on the plus-side, I had you guys, and I had a really big, slutty-looking avatar, and things turned out okay!

I called the unemployment people earlier and have an appointment on monday. They make you feel like a criminal on the phone.

Technically I have assets of up to £25k for my share that are for sale and if I tried harder I could probably drum up some more interest. But its my childhood home and I don't think I truly and honestly want to sell it. But I am just 1/4th of the vote and everyone else does want to sell. It'd so set me up for my future plans if we did sell it but I'm finding it hard to let go. But that is ok cus no1 is buying houses at the moment.

I've only really ever been skint a couple of times...I left home at 17 because I was waiting for an inheritance to activate and in general I was out of control...so there were some shady day's of couch surfing in dubious condition's and locations...the other occasions have been while traveling abroad and just temporary like 3 day's at most...which not by coincidence is the longest period of time in my life that I didn't really eat anything of considerable substance…and I once saw a movie about being down and out in NYC that may help you Bionic!… (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnFoaj8utio&feature=related)

not to sound like an ass or anything but, dude.. let it go. three other people want to let go of the past and could probably very much do with that money too for their own endeavours and you're holding them back because of nostalgia.

it's bricks and mortar. you'll always have the memories no matter if it belongs to you or not. cheesy but true. you'd be a real fool to just have it sat there considering your future plans. and the fact you have no job. the majority want to sell it, it's only fair. let it go.

I really don't know, and I didn't know how to try to figure it out, either. I don't even think that Minton could explain it.

The only thing I can think of, is that I was using a brand new model Mac computer system thing, and that maybe there were some incompatibility issues that resulted in my avatar size being allowed.

I resent that. Every time I try to make an avatar it tells me it's too big, even if it's totally freaking not.

Oh, its on the market, I'm not hindering the process and I am by far the one who has put in the most work to get it on the market and have poured the most money into it to keep the bank off our backs with the mortgage etc. I am moving back into it 1st July as keeping it empty is costing me too much money. Its just I know how well this house is built and the heavy discount we have already put on it is kinda depressing. But yes, you are right.

Its just I've grown to fall in love with this house again is all - probably cus I've done most the work. If any1 has £175k to blow (it was £250k) - its here http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-24988421.html

I'm an accountant with no qualifications at heart, I know what makes sense and will not see money down the drain (I used to be the opposite of this though when I was younger). I normally operate from a logical point of view these days.

Oh gosh, it's adorable! This is the house you grew up in? Looks like it's had some updating done. If I had the cash and wherewithal to live in Sheffield I would buy it.

i'm constantly out of money. i live on a low wage, have no savings only debt and am always a month behind on bills or so. im just lucky that earlier this year the government gave everyone some money so i could pay my housemate the rent i owed him.
im also lucky that one of my housemates buys too much food, and often i can live off the stuff he doesn't eat.

I thought that it was commonly accepted knowledge that financial times are hard for everyone and that it's okay now to not have a ton of money, or to not want to spend a lot; that the old status symbols are becoming symbols of excess to be ashamed of. But I must have been living in a bubble. I recently went to lunch with a few people I don't know very well. They all bought multiple 6-8 dollar beers (for a no-special-occasion lunch!) and were talking about wanting to buy new SUVs, expensive furniture, all kinds of that spendy showing off. I felt like I'd been raised by wolves or something. I joked about not having any money and they laughed but I think they were laughing AT me, not with me. There was pity.
