Michael Jackson is in trouble, yo.

Don't stop till you get enough (http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/06/25/michael-jackson-reportedly-hospitalized-after-suffering-cardiac-arrest/)

tmz, that bastion of reporting, is reporting he is dead. proper news sites like bbc and cnn are refusing to speculate. he is only 50! christ.

cookiepuss
06-25-2009, 05:50 PM
exactly...so far TMZ is the only one declaring him dead.
everyone else is sticking with hospitalized...for the moment...though it does mention that we was not breathing when paramedic arrived.

we'll see.

Yeah, people die but he was only 50 and he's a huge part of many people's lives. It's a shock.

He didn't sound too fussed. He was probably in the middle of bending a ladle in half when the BBC phoned him.

I'm not shocked for some reason.

The human body isn't a mr. Potato Head and I can imagine alterations after alterations can weaken the immune system. Especially alterations to the nasal passages and such.

You're created so you can function properly but you keep modifying yourself and it makes your body that much harder to adapt with all the changes that it's not used to.

Annie are you ok, are you ok Annie?

This is epic, Jackson defined pop music in the 80s. It is a shame he became a freak show, he'd still have a fairly dedicated (mature) fanbase if he stayed classy and funky. I'm not much of a fan now as I was as a kid but still dig his jams once in a deep while.

ericlee
06-25-2009, 07:50 PM
I think Jacko wouldn't be as symbolic if he didn't become a freak show.

If he were just plain ole black jacko, he'd have about the same status as MC Hammer.

Caribou
06-25-2009, 08:02 PM
^ With the difference that Hammer only had 1 hit, had no talent and didn't make the best selling album of all time.

Really, shit dudes, I only just got home and I read this. Fuck.
Ofcourse the dude turned wacko, but he made some of the best pop songs evar. And I think it's sad how he turned into this freak later on. He was mentally ill, which I don't find entirely strange if you consider how he was brought up. His father actually looks like the devil. :s

man, I've been in the dumps all day since I heard this.

Was still on the clock, heard a few ladies walk out and one literally said that he's dead, she wasn't even joking. She put her head down and just slumped over.

Her friends that she walked out with grabbed her and just bawled. I knew this wasn't some fake shit so I checked the news and sure enough.

I followed all of the shit he did until he decided to smash his face up and all the freaky stuff.

During break at work earlier yesterday evening, the coworkers and I played some old school shit via our cellphones while we ate our dinner.:(

Our local "hip hop"/top 40 station has been playing him nonstop since the news broke. It's a rare artist that can have only their music be played for hours nonstop.

Goodbye, Michael.

I hate to quote John Mayer, but this captured perfectly my thoughts:

"I think we'll mourn his loss as well as the loss of ourselves as children listening to Thriller on the record player."

I remember liking Michael Jackson before I even knew what pop music was or how the radio played into it. I used to just sit on the floor of my room and flip through the FM band trying to find Man in the Mirror on my My Little Pony player.

what I remember was the anticipation leading up to a music video premier.

it was a television event that people tuned in for.

after they aired the long version of say, Thriller, MTV would play it over and over after midnight and then they would air the shorter version, the one that most of us remember to this day...

My mom never got me the red leather jacket in 1984

I think what most people are mourning are their memories tied in with his music. Not necessarily the man himself.

that tears my 5 year old heart apart :p

I was in LOVE with his music as a kid. Still love it. A staple of my childhood.

To each their own I suppose.

Edit: I also realize that in August of last year, I went to a Prince vs Michael Jackson party with my now boyfriend. I didn't know it but he was in love with me, and that night is when he finally made a move and we danced the night away and had a blast. Still together and we are very much in love. Another memory near and dear to me involving MJ music. heh.

Who's side were you on?

nodanaonlyzuul
06-26-2009, 05:12 PM
it depends on the night. That particular party happens once a year at a big venue. That time I was for Michael.

There is a smaller Prince vs MJ party at a San Francisco club once a month. It gets SO freakin packed though that I tend to skip it, but I've been twice. First time I was for Prince, second time I was for Michael.

They give cut outs of their faces and paste it to a popsicle stick so people can use them as Masks. It's awesome.
