Just caught the flick this afternoon, thought it was pretty solid. Standout cast for sure. It's surely a Michael Mann film too; it's very medium paced and has a "cold" feeling, if that makes any sense. I reccomend. Anyone else seen it, have any opinions? I'm curious, cause the person I went to see it with I feel didn't enjoy it as much as I did.
i'm really looking forward to it, i love mann's work and especially the unique cinematography style of his films. hopefully now we'll be hearing more about public enemies and less about transformers.

so, i did some research, and apparently there's quite a few historical innacuracies in the storyline. a couple major ones actually. that kinda bothers me. stains my opinion of the flick, really.

I got to see one of the sets of this movie because they were filming it right by my work. I'm curious to see if I can recognize stuff around chicago, but I hope my eagerness to recognize things doesn't hamper my ability to suspend disbelief.

i saw it in mooresville indiana (if you've seen the film or know of him, he was raised here and is mentioned several times in the film) so that was cool. The place had a lot of donated things from johndillinger.com or something. it was like an event, really cool.
anyway
michael mann should shoot tv movies, since that's how he shoots everything. I hate his non-cinematic style of cinema. it's not that its shot digital, a lot of films are now, its just he uses the wrong frame rate and everything. But to each their own, he likes it, so whatever.
very alright film. Pretty good but the damn cinematography pisses me off.

I kind of doubt that I could see another Dillinger movie. The story isn't that interesting and it's been a topic of bad movies before. I like Depp but it comes down to the cop part of the story for me. How is the cop part?

a sorta typical christian bale performance; solid as ice, but more intensity than substance. don't get me wrong, bale has proven himself multiple times, and his performance in public enemies was far from inadequate, but his auto pilot is also easy to spot.

i saw this today and loved it! johnny depp was amazing - but he's always amazing so that's not saying much...plus he's sweet, sweet eye candy...but yeah, pretty much everything about this movie was amazing and blew me away. (y)

i liked it (y)
thought depp's performance was very good, as was the lady's who played his girlfriend.
bale was also quite convincing as Purvis.
i liked the cinematography, my girlfriend didn't so i guess its just an each to their own thing.
not a particularly speedy plot but it kept me interested (y)
7/10

i hate doing this but i do it anyway. i'll watch something and look up the history of it, find out it's been altered to be more 'enjoyable'. feel the same way, dude.

I was way way more interested in the FBI stuff. I wish there was more of that and less of the typical bio-pic conventions.
