I'm in a restaurant or something and I ask for a coke to drink. But then they're all like "Sorry, we only have Pepsi, is that okay?"

Of course it's bloody okay, it's like the same shit! Who would say "Oh really? Better make it a water instead." I mean really, who drinks Coca-Cola but not Pepsi?

I won't drink PepsiCo's Aquafina bottled water, only Coca Cola's Dasani bottled water has that really sharp bottled water flavor.

If a diner doesn't carry Coca Cola I leave right away and it's usually very obvious to everyone with ears and eyes I'm pissed off.

Don't even try and fucking give me Pepsi when I order Coke. I'll kill ya

Coke is a brand, pepsi is a brand. You cant sell a brand item as another brand item. Asking for a cola would solve this, in theory, but most people are programmed just to ask if pepsi is ok

And you'd be surprised the amount of people that, upon learning we sell pepsi, will have something completely different.

That's understandable, but to me cola sounds like cheap, rip-off non-branded shit. I guess it's just a formality which they have to run through and then I have to reply to every damn time, but it's not like they know I am pretty easy about the whole affair.

I am surprised that people actually would change their minds if actual Coke wasn't available, they taste 90% the same! Maybe it's a regional thing, in the Middle East, Pepsi seems to be most popular, and it varies throughout Europe.

Coke, Pepsi, it doesn't matter to me, but we buy Pepsi at our house. Soda is my alcohol. I drink it like it's nobody's business. I guess it's a fair trade off, I stopped drinking alcohol.

I will drink Diet Coke from a fountain at a restaurant. I won't drink any kind of cola from a can. When the waiter says, "is diet pepsi okay?" I always say "no," I'd rather have a Mountain Dew. I like Mountain Dew better.

I grew up in a house where we only had Pepsi and I hate the stuff.

I go to a Mexican restaurant where they serve a horrid tasting, no-name "cola" and they never tell people who are ordering a coke. I drink water there.

Back in the day when stores still ran the Pepsi taste test challenge I always chose Coke (did the test 3 seperate times).

I always choose Coke over Pepsi...except in the recession, a Coke costs 60 pence whereas the Lidl shop across from my work has Pepsi at 25 pence, for that price I will suffer the taste!

BTW, I really dislike all the diet versions including Pepsi Max, Coke Zero etc, they leave a nasty aftertaste in my mouth, yuck!

Coke is the only way to go - i would rather drink rola-cola than pepsi cos its the same shitty taste but loads cheaper

you have to ask. some people don't drink coca cola for ethical reasons i think, plus they taste different.

I don't like Pepsi.

Wouldn't turn it down in a restaurant however.

it's like the same shit!

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I rarely ever drink the stuff but when I do it's Coke with lemon...Pepsi is TOO sweet.

Everyone I know that drinks Diet Coke is addicted though, like instead of coffee...crack open a can of pop in the morning. Ew.

When I was a kid I mail ordered some Sea Monkeys from a company advertising in the back of a comic book I was reading. When they arrived they were in a small package like seeds for plants would be in. I didn't want to mess up the clean glasses in our cupboard so I found an almost empty liter of 7up in the fridge, drank it, rinsed it and filled it with water to put my Sea Monkeys in. The next morning I could see the little bastards floating around inside the bottle, setting on our kitchen dinette.

My Dad came home from a night shift at his work, sat down and ate a maple bar then took a swig out of the 7Up bottle with my Sea Monkeys in it. He proclaimed the soda warm and flat, then dumped it down the sink.

This was the end of Pepsi products for me, also I think it started me on the road to teenage cannibalism.

people get very weird about soda and icecream. it's like they have to have it, and it has to be the particular one they like(obsess over) or they have a small fucking fit.

it's just fucking soda/icecream. what the fuck

I don't really drink soda/pop anymore except in mixed drinks, in which case I can definitely tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi. And not only does Rye and Pepsi sound stupid, it tastes worse. I worked at a Pepsi restaurant for most of 2007 and the mixed drinks were invariably lousy. Luckily they had a great beer selection to make up for it. (y)

Pepsi is disgusting, but when I was a kid I couldn't really tell the difference. I preferred Coke, but didn't fuss if a restaurant had Pepsi. Usually if I want a coke and the place has pepsi, I get mountain dew or dr. pepper.

I'm off the soda wagon though, I broke my addiction a few months ago. I was drinking diet for a bit, but then just decided to have the regular stuff as a treat only. Eventually all of it just started tasting bad to me once I stopped pumping it into my system every day. I just don't crave it anymore. which is totally awesome. I drink iced tea now, unsweetened.

As for hot dogs, holy crap, my mom bought some Hebrew National Reduced Fat Beef Franks, and they were delicious. I never really like hot dogs that much because they seem gross and fatty and too juicy, but those were great. Firmer and less greasy, (y)

there's a huge difference.

coke is the only option between the two. bring me dr. pepper or sprite if you only have pepsi...

Oh, by the way, you are all retarded with you pespi/cola historical non sense.

I personally never drink pepsi or cola when i was young, no soda in my house but just oj. I think it did some damage on myself... ;P

right, but more people could be coming behind you. they don't know unless they ask, so there is literally no reason for them not to ask you that question, all you have to do is say "yes" and move along. that can't be difficult

I am reading a book and it mentions Coke vs. Pepsi tests, the results are quite interesting and would surprise some Coke/Pepsi lovers. Basically if you are a coke advocate you've fallen for many years of effective marketing, if you believe it's coke you'll like it over pepsi, even if it actually is pepsi and so is the other sample, you'll chose the one labelled as coke regardless.

I know people will swear 100% they will always know the difference, but I am not writing out the whole chapter in this book to prove otherwise.

I have no idea how someone could be fooled into thinking pepsi was coke. They don't taste the same at all.

Well you are obviously not a scientist then. Perception of something plays a very large part in what you think you are tasting. There are studies on it, and not just with colas.
