My favourite thing about this neverending reissue saga is that they have to sit down and listen to their albums. To hear them toying with the idea of putting Stop that Train or Prof Booty back in the setlists, or seeing them enjoying Scoop and Freak Freak is good shit. Yes, they may joke about the effort that went into Freak Freak, but I'd gladly fuck off Body Movin to make room for it. Of course, Mixmaster would have to exercise restraint on these rarely-performed nuggets. I had a point. Oh yeah, Chris Nieratko.

i was just thinking of making this thread. i still don't get it how they don't know which songs are on their albums. in a way i am disappointed by that.
but i'm glad adrock and me like the same beats on ill communication (y) i've been representing b-boys makin w the freak freak since the first time i heard it, and feel good finally hearing praise from the boys about that cut. i've always thought they should put it 'on the map', in the company of other beastie classics where it belongs, by playing it on concerts.

Fully agree but 3 of my fav Beastie songs ever, B-Boys Makin With Freak Freak, The Scoop & Alright Hear This. I want to know if they have original versions without the mic effect. These songs are still SiK but I would LOVE to hear them without the effects.

Would someone please post a list of the audio and video commentaries that are out there? I think that I've purchased every re-release and I think I downloaded what was out there, but I haven't started listening to them and I'd like a complete list. I think they're buried in my itunes or something.

Also, is one of them particularly good/interesting? Is there anything that I should do to enhance my listening pleasure?

P.S. I'm glad they don't sit around listening to their own stuff. That would be weird.

I think that I have a Paul's Boutique audio one and a Check Your Head video one. I'm trying to find the Check Your Head one but it downloaded into a peculiar place I think. ERR. I don't seem to have a Check Your Head audio one. I assume it's the same as video? Is there a Paul's Boutique video one and if so, where did that come from?

Correct. Mario C brought in some crappy mics and they liked them. As MCA said, "I use a bullshit mic that's made out of plastic."

at least according to mario c. in that red bull studio interview that was posted here. he said the mic had built in effects that you can switch to and thats what they used

there is audio commentary and there is the video of them doing the commentary. If you've heard the audio, the video commentary is the same thing, but with three dudes sitting in chairs and motioning their assistants to answer their phones and get them Arnold Palmers...
