Update on Rakim

So, according to his Wikipedia page and this recent Billboard interview (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/rakim-ready-to-release-the-seventh-seal-1003993154.story) with him, his new album, the long-delayed The Seventh Seal, will be out this fall, and specifically noted on his Wikipedia page, September 15, same day as the new Beastie Boys album. Man, if that's true, that day is going to kick ass.

I like the single, "Holy Are you," but I didn't like "It's Nothing."

Holy Are You sounded incredible as intro music for his live shows. When I heard the actual audio, the beat sounded a little too much like Eminem circa 2002. It's not bad, though.

Rakim hasn't dropped anything worthwhile in over a decade. I don't even check for him anymore. Hopefully this will be better than all of his other below average to just plain shitty solo albums.
