Check out "Baby Techno" by JFK of MSTRKRFT.
I also think "Kick Drum" by Felix Da Housecat is banging as well!

I was super into electro about a year+ ago so most of the stuff I'm familiar with is from around then...I need to download some new shit just no time...

no youtube video:

Far from gritty and dark but I can't resist (mesmerizing vid too):

Yeah, I started getting into electro big about 2-3 years ago now. I'm still a bit behind all the new stuff (well, I'm still discovering older shit and enjoying it aswell as new stuff)
I do like French electro a lot also, especially that Yelle track (I also like her original stuff which is quite bad of me). I don't dress like a tecktonik fag though, thank fuck. I'm known to throw a few of the moves down at a club when the right song comes on. Which is also really bad.
So try out some Justice remixed track. Justice - Stress (Auto Remix) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26AjWANl7Ug)

I didn't post any justice in here just because it seems so obvious, but yes they are amazing (D.A.N.C.E. is their worst track btw)

I went to a SebastiAn show a couple of months ago and I realised why I slowly stopped listening to this genre. some of it is just too harsh. the show was like an aural terrorist attack. every now and then I'll listen to a few tracks, but often I find it too intrusive.

I really like the SebastiAn remix of Kavinsky's Testarossa Overdrive. I do like my music loud though, harsh is good.

hmm aside from the nina sky tune and that other one...and maybe the mechanical laughter built in auto-tune one, i'm not really feeling major lazer
but i do love that nina sky tune, it's so cheesy and awesome, plus as ai recall nina sky are kind of cute
anyway, these kinds of songs arent made for youtube and computer speakers
you should all go to a proper rave type event instead of listening to youtube

Electro?
I would consider the first track to be "electro house" the 4/4 gives it away
The same for the second, maybe even the new style funky/glitch/garage house
labeling 4/4 beats electro isn't right, none of these even come close to breaks or even techno which I would consider a close relative of electro.
but still fun tracks

i dont do genres, if it sounds electronic and makes me dance then its all the same to me r kid. there was some similar sounding stuff in this thread, i dont agree that if its 4/4 its not electro but as i said i dont really care for pigeonholing. I understand its a necessary evil so each to their own i suppose
