Look for ECM-V1 SONY Variety Microphone.
I bought one on eBay a few years back. I'm not sure if they are still in production. There are a bunch of YouTube videos that show off the features.
It's a cool little mic. But, you can get more sounds if you have a bullshit Radio Shack mic and an effects processor like a Korg Kaoss Pad.
But, if you want one just for the Beastie's novelty... I'm sure you can find one around if you look hard enough.

they bought that mic at radio shack back in the early 90s, i'd be surprised if those things are still around, really. is radioshack even in bizness anymore? ebay is definitely your best bet, if any bet at all.

Well the Beastie's used the variety mic for So Whatcha Want, correct?? So that's the type of mic I'm looking for for that type of sound.

Yes. Correct. They used them in the CYH and IC era.
Good luck trying to find one.
I was just saying that with any microphone and an effects processor you can get the same sound.
But, with you being Mr. Perfect... You probably already knew that. Heh.

Lol, Mr.Perfect was actually a professional wrestler and my all time favorite wrestler :)
As for singing in the shower with a variety mic... thanks for giving me the idea ;)

I remember being really hyped for the Saturday nights main event match between Perfect and Hogan (1990?) Now i haven't watched wrestling since like 98.

A friend of mine and myself used a fuzz pedal on some microphones in like 95 and it sounded kind of the same. We were playing around with his Dad's recording shit, I learned Gratitude during that time. We made these awful rambling jams over casio drum loops, him playing guitar and me on the bass. Funny. Or not. Not, probably. Fun, though. For me. To type. Not for you. To read.

Whereas they used the Heil Talk Box on "Somethings Got To Give", I'm fairly certain that they didn't use one on Gratitude (at least on the album version).
