It sounds like it's confined to his Parotid Gland and some lymph nodes in that area. He said surgery will probably be in the next couple of weeks. It will not affect his voice.

I'm sure, like most of us, for as psyched as we are to hear the new album, we all want whats' best for Yauch. Life has a funny way of slowing us down, we live in a push push world. For as great as the new album will be, it's just that, a new album. I'm as big a Beastie fan as there is, but when you hear news like this it puts things into perspective. It does feel like a brother getting sick and we feel for you Yauch.

My wife is an RN and she works on the Oncology unit and she did say that what he has is very highly treatable.

Hope you come through this with minimal pain. My younger brother has survived testicular cancer in his 20s and kidney cancer in his 30s and he's still strong as an ox. He works at Duke Medical, so if you need an inside track, holla atcher boy.

The most important thing is your health and the well being of your family. You, Adam and Mike have given so much of yourselves to your fans on so many levels, we are all here for you. I can understand the scare, my doctors just confirmed that I have Papillary Thyroid Cancer, which is also in my lymph nodes- I'll be doing surgery mid August. The word Cancer alone is so scary. I'm 26, and had no clue I had anything out of the norm going on, it was a totally fluke I even saw my doctor when I did. I was shocked, but the more I learned about the situation, the more confident I became. My outlook is good, and I am sure that you will be fantastic as well, sounds like you got a plan in order, and caught it fast.

Life just loves to give us new reasons to be surprised and revive the fighter in all of us. MCA, you are unstoppable, and I hope you get the best of care, and a fast recovery!

I caught the end of a blurb on the radio about "bad news with Adam Yauch" and my fucking heart sank, I almost crashed the car. The guy ended it by saying that he was a believer in karma and that with all the great stuff MCA has done he'd be back in no time. I was like "oh man I hope its like a car crash where he broke a finger or something." This SUCKS. I really do care about these guys, they were my soundtrack from the time I was 7 years old and it's still going.

There are not many times I wouldnt be annoyed that a Beastie album and tour are postponed, but this definately is not one of them. I know too many people that have been affected by cancer including my Dad. Its a tough, tough time for you but I am sure you have amazing support from your family, friends and people associated with the band.

You also have thousands and thousands of people around the world routing for you now, that must be a great comfort.

A great man has great respect and I think that is truely apparent here, get well soon and I promise you when you are well and fit enough to tour again you are gonna get one hell of a reception here in the UK.

Cancer is a real shit sandwich(n), but you caught it early by being vigilant (take note people!) & thats what makes all the difference. My cousin had skin cancer at 25 & my Dad has prostate cancer a few years back, both are alive & kicking & fully fit. They kicked cancers ass and there is no doubt in my mind that you'll kick cancers ass too!(y)

I saw this news yesterday and couldn't believe it! The day before I'd been wearing my shirt from a show I saw of the Beasties a couple years ago. They were so upbeat and gave one of the best shows I've personally seen. The Beastie Boys have helped me through some tough times.

Yauch....I know what it's like man.

Last fall I was dx'ed with small bowel cancer. Its a rare type of cancer at that. 5000 new cases in the US a year. I had a 25cm x10cm tumor removed from my small bowel and 14 lymph nodes, 12 were affected. That was pretty serious. They removed anything cancerous but I had to go through 11 treatments of heavy chemo that I finished early May to make sure it doesn't come back. It was a rough road, rough doesn't describe it. But I am getting over the chemo now and hope to be back to work Sept. If I can survive this battle, you can survive yours for sure. My last CT scan on July 3rd was all clear, but many more scans to come over the next 4-5 years.

You are only young yet too, and I believe you got what it takes to win this. I am 34 and too young to leave this earth. I am sure you now you aren't the first to go through such a battle, and many win it. (y)

And hats off for telling your fans...that alone takes courage in my opinion!
