I first saw it on yahoo and my jaw literally dropped

when Michael Jackson died I actually thought "wow, what if something like this or something else bad happens to one of the boys?"

It's a strange feeling predicting that this would happen :/

how about everyone else?

and I am going to take this time to say a few words on behalf of Adam:

Thank you Adam for providing me with great music over the past few years. You are going to make it through this and go out there and hop on stage and perform the new album on tour with the rest of your band in a good month and half or so. Anyways, thank you Adam and stay strong. Also, thanks to Minton and whoever else was behind the idea to let us send a card to Adam, great idea guys, thanks.

Sincerely,
Austin.

Like I said earlier, I was in a car and heard the tail end of a blurb and my heart just sank. It was like that feeling you get going down a really crazy roller coaster, except worse. When I found out what type of cancer it was and how treatable it was I felt a lot better and now I am just hoping for a speedy recovery so the main man can get back to living a cancer free life.

I hoped that people would treat this tastefully and that it would be about him instead of us. I also hoped that people wouldn't post bad cancer stories. I lost on both counts. :(

But the first thread had a lot of nice posts in it from people who don't post as often these days. I liked that.

Yeah I woke up and read it, and as I was I got an email from a best friend who said did you hear about MCA..... Yep.

I saw it on MSN front page. It was pretty sad as I read through it, as my dad had cancer and it really sucked, but it did finally go away, but to be honest I was fighting back tears because I hate to see anyone go through that process ever.

Sad day for bboys fans, but lets not worry about us, lets send out positive vibes to Yauch and his family. Get well soon homey.

I heard it on the radio during my lunch break at work.
Was already sad about other things, so that just put me right over the edge and I cried.
Yauch's video was re-assuring though, as he is very upbeat and it gave lots of details that the radio skipped out on.
Positive vibes and much love to him!

Like the OP I saw it first on Yahoo. I guess it softened the blow for me because the first thing I saw when i clicked on the "Entertainment" tab under Yauch's picture was the quote "very treatable" so when I saw the headline "Beastie Boy has cancer" I was shocked but not as scared as I would have been if I wouldn't have known it was very treatable before I even knew who had cancer. The video was also reassuring. God Bless the Boys for having such a positive outlook on things. That's something to be inspired by! Good luck Yauch and get better!!! Take all the time you need!

I woke up about 11 a.m. Paid for my tickets i bought on ebay for the congress theater show. took a shower and as i was getting ready for work my bud called me up and said "bad news.......adam yauch has cancer." At first i thought he was playing a joke on me because he wasnt gonna be able to make it to the congress theater show. then he said he was serious and i looked it up online, and my eyes just welled with tears. ive been a huge beasties fan since i was 8 and MCA has always been my favorite beastie boy. I have lollapalooza tix and was sooooo excited to see them. it was like a bad dream. i send adam my best and have the utmost faith that he will be able to pull thru this and the best is yet to come.

I was scrolling through the Comcast homepage, when I saw the headline "Beastie Boy has cancer." I literally gasped out loud. Immediately wondered which one of them it was. I clicked on the link and the damn story couldn't come up fast enough on my slow-ass computer. Found out it was Yauch and my heart sunk, as it would have for any of the Boys. I'm so glad to hear it's treatable.

I always knew cancer can affect anyone, including myself, which it did. I'll be cancer free one year come Oct 1st. Yauch's diagnosis just drives the point that much further. I was shocked when I watched that video to say the least. I'm thinking about him for sure! I'm confident he'll get through this! (y)
