whatever dude!
I've always found it funny how we assign significance to large round numbers. Say in cricket a batsman hits 100 and it's a big deal, but then 98 runs is pretty much just as good and 102 runs are better, yet there is no ovation for a score that isn't a nice round number.
In a similar vein why should 9,000 posts be significant? It's only one more than 8,999 and one less than 9,001.
They are just markers in our life rirv. Easy to remember and mark achievements down if we use the base-10 system as its simple to follow and easy to get.

9,000 is only 11,000 away from 20,000 leagues under the sea.

The question was: Why are even numbers so appealing to us? Is it something in our nature that assigns them significance? Is it our innate need for balance? We created numbers, so did our emphasis on the even ones evolve after our creation of numbers or did our creation of numbers evolve out of our love of even ones?
If we love even numbers so much, then why do we visually find odd numbered objects more appealing and why the early emphasis on three as being important - in Christianity, at least. Although I don't think Christianity invented the importance of the trio, I think Christianity fit its own mythology into the already-present importance of the trio.
If a biscuit is two, then a triscuit is three. So, what's a scuit?

I often order the odd numbered fast food combos. Strange...

When people try to think of a number by guessing or lying about something, they usually pick an even number. Odd numbers sound more authentic, though, more specific. Why do we guess at even numbers? Is it because we were taught to in math in school? Were we even taught that? I don't remember, I didn't do well in math.

Lucky 7, unlucky 13. Both are odd numbers. I smell a conspiracy. But 666 is even...and evil. Is that blowing your mind?
616 was the original number of the beast but that is still even - just sayin'

Lucky 7
The number 7 is considered lucky because it's implanted in our brains as a distinct number as it's not too big and not too small.
As a designer I often find that if I have to make a repetition of a shape in an illustration (a tree for example), anything below 6 doesn't have enough impact, and anything above 8 has too much impact. 6 and 8 are even numbers and so are no good as they highlight the forced, man-made nature of the design. 7s work well because you can put 3 of the shapes on one side of the focus of the illustration, and 4 on the other, adding an unbalanced or natural feel to the image.
Food for thought - Many plants are based around a pattern involving seven segments or leaves and most mammals have seven neck bones. Common ladybirds have seven spots on their backs. There are seven deadly sins. Seven seas. Seven wonders of the world. Seven days in a week. Seven colours of the rainbow.
^ EDIT. I just listed 7 facts without thinking about it. See?
