Some people have asked about making donations following Adam's announcement earlier this week. Though he is not pushing for people to do so, he thought that it was very kind of you, and would suggest donations to go to Lance Armstrong's organization Livestrong (http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.khLXK1PxHmF/b.2661025/k.C0A6/Donate.htm).

i love mca like my own mother. (well not that much but you get the point)

but seriously? donations? some of you have asked about that?

the man probably has more money than a lot of this board put together.

let me get this straight, you didnt care about giving for cancer, then you find out mca has it, and now you want to give? idk, i just dont get people sometimes.

(im not advocating not giving to the armstrong foundation or anything like that, please do, its just humans are a confusing species)

the donations go to cancer research. I personally support the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and feel like the Yauch news has brought cancer awareness to the message board, cancer survivors are coming out of the woodwork and it's interesting to hear different sides of the story.

I, for one have donated and solicited donations for the Susan G. Komen foundation because I have two women in my family who had breast cancer.

I didn't donate to the Komen Foundation or do a "Walk for the Cure" and raise money for the cause (nor was cancer even a concern of mine) until the people close to me went through having breast cancer.

Yauch is someone a lot of people here admire.
It's exactly how people begin to get invoved with, or begin donating to a cause.

Presume much?
People tend to give to different foundations based on personal experience.
This counts for some people here, as personal.
Settle down.

Awareness is key. Props to the boys for again helping someone else in their time of need. Props.

Support. Find something to support.

I have been on here. Ya know me. I make stupid pictures that assist with cancer research. Affiliation? Nah - haven't sold enough for that.

But find something and support the cause......even if it's the GOP.....c'mon - I was being an SOB when I said this....LOL....

Weak....but stong in mind...

Find a Message and spread....and support....

things like this also bother me. like im getting all riled up and throwing shit around my room because of someones post on a message board.

p.s. give to cancer research, not bc adam yauch has it, but because someday you or a loved one might have it.

Big ups to those who donate time and money, as well as spread awareness of cancer. However please research the organization you are supporting. Some organizations use an absurd amount of donated money for their benefit and are not always working towards the goals they lead you to believe. For many years I supported the American Cancer Society, until I heard some rumblings about how they spend their money. Then I read this article.

http://www.preventcancer.com/losing/acs/wealthiest_links.htm

Long story short: the ACS is one of the wealthiest "non-profit" organizations around, and works to treat cancer rather than cure it (which puts money into the hands of drug companies that are on their board of trustees).
