For a long time now I've been curious about motorcycles. I always wondered what it would be like to ride one. I mean, I love riding a bike and feeling so free, moving through the air like that.

Do any of you have one? What kind? Why do you like it? Tell me about it.

One of my coworkers loves her motorcycle. She rides a harley. I asked her about it and she suggested that I try renting a moped first, since they're easy to drive and it wouldn't cost much. Then I could get a feel for whether or not I'd like something like that.

There's a class for learning to drive them at the community college. But I'm nowhere near the point at which I'd be making a decision on buying one. They're expensive, right?

I have a car. I don't need something like that. It just looks like fun.

I also think the helmets make people look really cool.

Do you think it's possible that I could ever find one (used) for sale for under $300?

my bro just bought a 1976 Honda CB 360 off craigslist for $650 and has become quite the Zen Motorcycle Maintenance Man.

we were just working on the electrical circuitry and he figured out a way to adjust the idle valve so he doesn't stall out...

anyway he bought it out of the blue and is working on getting it inspected and street legal...

it looks to be a pretty cool pet project. I mean the damn thing runs and it was only 600 bucks...

Yes, I've heard hondas are cheaper than harleys. How much money do you think he's going to end up putting into it before he can start riding it around town?

I've been reading a little here and there about how they work and how you're supposed to drive them, and the different kinds. But I feel silly because I haven't told anyone - except this board and my coworker I mentioned - about this curiosity of mine.

I have a Honda CBT 125, 2009 model - when I mentioned it here last some1 laughed me out of the thread as it didn't exist in their world and said I knew nothing about bikes - forgot who it was.

Anyway, I love it. I have a car to. Problem riding is in the winds, rain is ok. Craps roads are a problem (especially in Sheffield) but if I was to stay in the states for a considerable amount of time (a strong possibility) where the roads are excellent I wouldn't hesitate on getting a bike over there to, rather than a car.

About a month ago the neighbor's 25 year old son next door got a new Suzuki SV650. For the first two weeks he still didn't have any sort of a license, though. One of the funniest things in the world to me was seeing him get all his gear on to ride around in little circles in the cul de sac. I mean, it's hot enough to cook pancakes on the driveway and this guy willingly throws on boots, a leather jacket, gloves and has the visor down on his helmet.

Yes, but not as cool.

My friend/lady coworker person was saying how she thinks the sport bikes aren't as comfortable to ride because of the position your body has to be in, leaning forward. I like the traditional looking bikes. They're not cruisers or touring bikes, just simple and basic. You sit up straight on them, not leanng forward or reclining with your legs out straight.

I suppose he wouldn't want to risk losing half of his skin were he to actually lose control of his bike at 15 mph and go sliding across the pavement 20 or 30 feet.
