And I don't have health insurance or a regular physician.

So basically, I'm fucked. God bless America.

how minor?

call 911 probably? can emergencies be minor?

DipDipDive
07-30-2009, 09:15 PM
Emergency is not accurate. I'm in pain but it's not life threatening. The point is that I definitely need to see a doctor as soon as possible and I'm stressing out about it, which isn't improving my condition.

I just broke up with medical debt last month. Looks like we're getting back together.

Web MD or alcohol+Nyquil.

I don't think revealing your ailment to the entire board is going to happen, is it?

I will say it's improved since I initially made this thread. Let's all road trip to Canada. ET, you bring the madlibs. Bob, you bring the Cheetos. DW, you bring the Elephant Show sing-along tape.

Fuck, my account is totally gonna end up overdrawn before all this nonsense is said and done. :(

I'm guessing UTI!

No Madlibs bur I have a half done Wuzzles color book and 3/4 of a can of Pringles. I just took my Wild & Crazy Kids purple t-shirt out of the dryer so I'm good to go. SHOTGUN!

DipDipDive
07-31-2009, 01:11 AM
The Pringles better be pizza flavored, otherwise no deal.

ET

One thing I really dislike about the thought of moving to America is no free health-care. Its a big consideration for me even though i have no underlying health problems. I just think its an unfair system for the richest country in the world. But then its my opinion - again, I don't want to turn another thread political :)

How is the UK's medical system free??? Don't you niggas have extremely high incomes taxes?

Adam
07-31-2009, 08:02 AM
Yes we do have high taxes. Its the system that we have and it works and sometimes doesn't work. Much like the american system, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The reason I'll defend free healthcare is that my mum and dad would of suffered more and my sister would be dead if not for it - for that, I can only be thankful (y)

It's probably not a UTI. It wouldn't be that painful. Or would it?

Maybe an organ exploded. It happens.:(

this is true, I work for a fortune-50 company and have the best medical/dental/optical/life/legal/LTD insurance package that money can buy..... I pay $16 a week for it....... you really can't get better than that....

I want to make a comment about the president's plan, but I am unsure how to do it with out coming off as racist :(

Just yesterday I was considering getting rid of my health insurance because I need more cash, I can't even begin to tell you how much I am getting raped each pay check.

DDD-free clinic and a heating pad.

Toucan-UTIs are extremely painful.

todd rundgren's solo work is far superior to his output with utopia. the nazz are quite charming and all, and while their 'hello it's me' is certainly the better of the two, they also ultimatley fall short of His Toddness, unrestrained.

If it's a UTI be careful, those can travel up into your kidneys and get very serious very fast.

Sorry, girl. Hope you find a way out of this.

There's no such thing as "free" healthcare. Not even in the land of milk and maple syrup.

But yeah, Canada does it big. A UTI ain't shit. You can get that handled with a full tank of gas here.

Canadian walk-in clinics charge a 50 dollar fee to any american that just walks in off the street in order for them to see a doctor. They will even say "Keep the receipt so that you can send it in to your medical insurance when you get home for a potential refund"
Trust me I've witnessed it many times.
Wait 15 minutes (if you get there early right at opening) and bingo you have yourself a prescription.

I pay 50 dollars a month for my "free" health care. They only make you pay that if you aren't in the "working poor" category. It's more expensive when you are single. Once Im married we will only pay about 65 bucks as a couple. And I think once you have 1+ kids its a package deal price of about 100ish bucks.

I pay 50 bucks a month extra for extended medical benefits aka things like prescriptions, dental, chiro, physio and optometry. With that I also get 300/yr worth of massage therapy YESH PLEASE. This fee would also cover my spouse and any amount of kids if I had em.

The only shitty thing for me is that there is a shortage of doctors so I dont have a family doctor anymore and thus have to hit up the walk-in clinics for any of my medical needs. Im on easy street since thats just means going twice a year for a birth control prescription (which because of my extended medical costs me 2 bucks/month to keep me as acting mayor of no-baby land).

ps. I heard a version of that commercial they are running in america right now with a Canadian stating they would have died of a brain tumour because they would have been put on a 6 month waiting list in Canada if they hadn't had it treated in the states.
It sounded like a fucking visa/master card ad.

DDD, it's cool. I know exactly what you're going through. Just get a thick bristle brush, a tub of shortening, and a strong friend that doesn't have a weak stomach. I'll be over in a few with a towel. You're going to have this buttbaby (y)

in ny, if you have a medical emergency and you cant pay the fee, you ask to speak to the hospital financial advisor and they can help you apply for emergency medicaid, where they cover a percentage of your hospital bill and possibly even your prescription if your need demands it. it's basically like a sliding scale, and it depends on your income and expenses, etc. no such program in your state?

try as you might to find a free clinic. Or call around offices to see what you'd have to pay up front. Find out which one is the cheapest. Beg friends for help if possible. Family, if that's available (which I know all too well is that sometimes it's not).

And as much as I hate to say it, at the ER, they can never turn you away even if it's not an emergency. You also can say you forgot your ID. They still cannot turn you away. The paperwork doesn't have to be accurate.

That's if you get desperate...

Ugh. I feel your pain about not having insurance and being fucked and I'm so sorry :(

DipDipDive

So I found a clinic with a sliding scale for uninsured patients. They were able to see me today. I had to pay $50 up front for the visit and will be billed for the rest (can't wait to check my mailbox next week!).

As I suspected, it's nothing serious, but definitely needed to be treated right away. Thanks for the encouragement, kids.

HEALTHCARE LOL

Oh, and -

Pauli: I believe emergency medicaid is available in Minnesota, but my circumstances weren't that dire.

jabumbo: Your employer probably pays for your insurance, which is more than likely why you do not see a deduction from your checks. Lucky bastard.

cosmo: YOU ARE...NOT THE FATHER.

technically the provincial governments use tax revenue to fund our public insurance, so you're correct. however we don't have to fork out hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for medical and surgical expenses, nor do we have to worry about private insurance companies fucking us out of medical coverage.

It sucks so much that life/death, sickness/health is a for profit business. It just reeks of WRONG. I feel bad for bringing a diabetic Canadian into it. But we'll get him set up on my health plan and all but shit... I hope everything gets covered and we don't get screwed in any "fine print". I get billed for stupid shit even tho I have insurance, I still pay for stuff. Eff'd up. [/ramble]

Hey DDD if you find the hook up on where the jobs are with all the primo benefits that fall from the sky, lemme know, K?
