fuck dude I hate shaving and I hate having prickly fucking hair poking my neck every time I press my chin against my chest from watching tv laying over my bed. I went for the mustache look but then it just grew into looking like Dali's mustache. It was looking silly so I shave it off but fucking its like plucking every hair as I shaved. So thats why I wonder if it would hurt a big deal to shave off a thick beard.

Actually it does hurt a big deal. The fact is that shaving is very painful, at least for some of us. I wear the most minimal beard that I possibly can, I trim it with an electric shaver every couple of days, and even this involves a very painful neck-and-cheek shave on my days off, with blisters and rash and everything no matter what I do. There is no way I could pretend to be clean-shaven for more than a few hours, and after a week of neglect I look like a Taliban operative. I've found that if I wear a shirt and tie when I board a plane, I have a much lesser chance of being pulled out of the line, but it still happens. I can't help it.

I often hear dudes bitch and cry about how smooth their faces are and how they wish they could grow a beard. I say fuck you, buddy. There's some of us who wish we were little baby-faced angels with nice smooth chins and unmarred cheeks and no razor burn or cuts from scraping metal across our faces, fighting a constant war against our own bodies. But then I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side.

I am quite hairy, and it's all dark aswell. It's been good these last few weeks on leave as I have only shaved like twice so far. Grown my sideys a bit aswell, which is good. Too bad I got back to shaving every goddamned day after this week. My neck gets quite sore although I find aftershave balms quite helpful in reducing the rash.

my beard gets like terrorist big in a month if i let it my last job didn't care if i let it grow out and its similar to what i do now load furniture for people this one also says i have to hide my tats, which my last one didn't and the last one was more upscale and expensive the owner even didn't care.

goddamn do i hate shaving. it might be the worst thing about being a dude

i generally dont shave more than once every one or two weeks
i cant stand the thought of a job that i have to shave for, what the fuck is that?

i cant shave thick growth with just a razor, i usually have to give it a once over with the electric clippers, lather up whats left and brush against the grain before i shave. i also shave against the grain which is supposed to be a big no no, but i cant really do it any other way

Helvete
08-03-2009, 12:52 AM
Me too, I have to shave against the grain or it looks like I haven't shaved. And in a stupid fucking job where I can get in trouble for not shaving, I have to do so.

yeah that sucks. im lucky in that sense. i havent shaved every day ever. i think it would hurt a lot. it cant be good for you face.

btw, this is the shit. id recommend having a stick or two of these handy to any guy, its really a life saver when you need it

"styptic sticks (http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=Styptic&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf)"

they sell these at the local chain drug stores where im at.. you've gotta kind of look for them. or you can get it online, well worth it

real quick too, while im at it.. ive wondered about shaving with a blade for a while. i remember my grandpap doin that when i was really little. i've wanted to get a nice blade for a long time to do it that way. i really cant use electric razors and the disposable ones get to be a big expense. i think it would be great to use something that you can have forever and i like the the thought of a genuine shaving experience.. you know, gettin the blade out, slappin it around on the sharpener, using some good lather and a nice hair brush to slather it on - that whole thing

anyone know about or do this? i know a little about it and i know they're like over a $100 bucks for a good one. and that they're SHARP

Yeah, a straight razor or 'cutthroat' are probably like the best shave if you can use one. I'd probably chop my head off if I tried though. I can be pretty clumsy sometimes with a normal one and I bleed like a mutherbitch.

You can also get the old style safety razors, the ones with the double-edge blade that you can replace. Never used either though, only the usual Gillette ones with like 80 blades in. What's the point in that?!

I barely shave. The most I do is trim my fuzz once a month.

I fucking hate the feeling of stubble so I shave twice a day, morning and eveni ng without fail! I use gillette fusion razors, only shave against the grain for a night out for that super smooth feel...
Costs me a fortune as I change my razor every 7-8 days though.

BIC has the most fucking horrible razor ever fuck that company. For now I stick with Shtick Quarto which is good way better than a double blade. Sometimes I do feel like just shaving with a hunting knife... sigh. I even used this foam that supposedly wipes off body hair around my neck and nope it doesnt work it just leaves a sting on my neck with very very very funky smell.

Twice a day! That's crazy. Why don't you just not touch your face in the evening rather than shave again?

I really must shave soon though, been about a week. Although when I leave my stubble to grow for a few days and then have a shave I get a really smooth shave and my skin has had enough of a break not to get all irritated.

i don't mind shaving. if i leave it for too long, not only do i look like a sock but i get mega irritation after about 6 days. the longer the hair gets, the more it irritates. should be the other way around, i thought.

Speak for yourself, sweetbeard

When I had a full beard, it was wirey as shit and thus quite painful to shave. It was like trying to shear a tender lamb. My beard grows in like 3 days if I"m not careful. It's my inner Muslim trying to break free! I hate beards now as too many annoying flakes who wear scarfs in the summertime have them now. Also I look like an Al-Qaida Insurgent when I have one, I'm not up for all that Race-schism.

Interesting.

I'd rather be a dude and only have to shave my face once a day, my back every few weeks, and tend the rock garden here and there than be a chick. They have to shave everything. Dudes really shouldn't be complaining.

fuck that - i shave once a day and use one pack of 4 razors a year which is handy cos i usually get the latest gillete mach75 or whatever as a christmas present.(y) i'd rather take ages having a painful shave with a blunt razor than pay the fucking prices they charge for razors. cheapskate? Probably

indeed and they can use creams and waxes and shit which is just as mental. and they get periods.
we get shaving our face and peeing standing up. result(y)

EDIT- they dont use actual shit

My ex BF would let me pull the red hairs out of his face with tweezers when he wouldn't shave for a few days, he hated the red ones and wanted to get them at the root. OMG, it was so much fun...

Don't y'all wish you could just wax your face?

ow, wax no. I had a friend once waxed some parts of my eyebrows and it didnt hurt a bit. So, I thought one day I'll try it but instead I waxed the side of my cheeks. I bleed and I cried.

I cant do it! Its a bit of OCD creeping in I think, I have to shower/bath twice a day too without fail...I dont smell or anything but I get paranoid that I do. If I didnt shower and shave in the evening I wouldnt be able to sleep (and i have tried!).

My job doesn't even allow a bit of stubble on our face but I have no worries.

I shave once every 4 days and never get a finger pointed at me.
