Works a lot of places in europe younger. You learn to control yourself by the time you are out of your teens.

Drinking from 21 seems crazy to me as by that age, most people here have done all that crazy drink too much on night outs etc but looking at it from my point of view - being 21 in the states suddenly pushes you back into a stupid state that should of been out of your system 5 years before.

Also, I really fucking hate having to have ID everywhere in the USA. Its like being in a police-state while shouting freedom at ya from every corner... um, wait...

Most of the countries I have been to in Europe have a younger than 18 drinking age, and the whole youth drinking thing is such a non-issue. Too bad the UK and US cannot be the same.

I went to Germany when I was like 15 or 16 with a bunch of kids from area high schools. They left us at the Hofbrauhaus one night and whoa. Then - we all stayed with different families that all lived in the same area. That was fun, going to school and stuff. These nice kids decided to throw a party at the end for us and there was a keg o beer. Needless to say, the German kids were all pretty chill and we alcohol deprived and suppressed kids from the states were all pretty much shit faced drunk. Classy. (y)

i voted 21 for my own selfish reasons.

It will keep annoying fucking teenagers out the bars.

when I was young, canada was just a hop skip and a jump from where I lived, so my friends and I started partying at 19. I think it did get the clubbing and getting wasted thing out of the way a bit earlier.

or at least, in college, by the time I got to be 21, I wasn't super into clubs. still liked getting drunk though.


I dunno, maybe 19 would be good. although american teenagers drink anyway usually. Even I did, and I was a goody two shoes. waited til I graduated high school though, but I was still only 17.
