Looking good Bill? Look a little Rumsfeld from the 80s.

I'm considering getting total back piece of Clinton's portrait and a waving American flag as a backdrop.
Anyone else think it's kind of funny how he's PWNING his wife a little,

Clinton currently carrying more clout than Obama, over 8 years after he was in office, is the biggest PWN of them all tho.

i read somewhere that kim jung il didnt want to see any of the other (mostly) senators that offered to go since it would be out of the question for president obama to go himself. he considered only john kerry or bubba
excellent choice the obama administration made sending good ole bill over there(y)

I'm glad the women are out of there. My heart went out to them and their families. I'm a bit uncomfortable with the precedent this sets but right now I'm okay with it.

I stopped liking Bill Clinton when I found out about his murderous streak (see link below for the 'facts'):

Actually I never liked the phoney even if he is not the murderous cretin these people claim him to be.

This post provided me with some much needed comedy after reading that Pittsburgh shooter George Sodini's web diary. As I read down the list of deaths surrounding Clinton I came across this one,
James Milan - Found decapitated. Coroner ruled death due to natural causes.
Doesn't that sort of make a person pause and think a bit about the legitimacy of all the other claims?
I'm hoping this is comedy.

Great Day. I'm really proud of this because as an American I like the World to see us in a better light than bullshit rhetoric and fucked up wars.
That is international diplomacy, it is a statement to the world that beyond the strengths of the military lies the strength of communication.
The lives of two young women in exchange for a stony-faced photograph in front of a wave mural? I'd say that's a pretty good deal! Good work, Bill!

I'd bet there was a substantial amount of money and other goods involved in this transaction going to N.Korea.

Carter's cool, I don't know why so many people trash the man. He is a stellar citizen. His presidency wasn't nearly as horrible as many before and after him.
The relevancy of him going to North Korea seems moot, Gore is the man who actually deserves the most credit (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/04/north-korea-welcomes-bill_n_250682.html) for the return of Euna Lee and Laura Ling.
If these two journalists work for somebody other than Al Gores Current TV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current_TV) I'm not too sure how this all would have worked out.

so, nobody's concerned about the photo op being used for North Korean propaganda? and the fact that they were just like, "hey, bring us Bill Clinton", and we just sent him over there?
I mean, if we're just gonna send Bill Clinton around the world to rescue people, I guess that's fine. it just doesn't seem plausible.
don't get me wrong, I'm glad those ladies are home safe. I just worry that this will only promote capturing people and holding them...for ransom, basically, rather than deter it.
I don't know, this article brings up some interesting points: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/04/AR2009080401486.html
and...believe it or not, I'm kinda in agreement with McCain on this.

That's where I started last night, but I'm not as worried about that anymore. This wasn't really something Clinton did, it was apparently something our government did. Then they asked Clinton to do it. For all the tough talking we do, our government apparently wants to find a way to talk to N. Korea and this is a foot in the door? I don't know.
I still don't like the precedent but I just don't see it having a big impact.

Naw, Maureen Dowd's dorky column (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/05/opinion/05dowd.html)did have a few choice paragraphs I enjoyed today, she's irritating but she can really twist out the words like nobodies business when prodded.
“Despite decades of bipartisan U.S. rhetoric about not negotiating with terrorists for the release of hostages,” John Bolton wrote for The Washington Post’s Web site, “it seems that the Obama administration not only chose to negotiate, but to send a former president to do so.”
But the former Bush bullies have no credibility on diplomacy. They spent eight years wrecking it, and the score for them on North Korea is 0-6; zero meetings with Kim and enough plutonium for six nuclear bombs.
As usual the comments (http://community.nytimes.com/comments/www.nytimes.com/2009/08/05/opinion/05dowd.html?sort=recommended), particularly the first few tempered her ed/op piece quite nicely.

geez louise, you were right about the dorky part. good lord. I can't believe she used the term "schadenfreude", anybody have 50 cents?
anyway, I think this part is something I overlooked: Bill Clinton will bring back valuable information about Kim’s mental and physical health.

So you are saying you rather have had tax payers money pay for it all. I have a feeling you would have posted an article on the costs for that too, if that were the case.
Privately funded release of two American journalist. Sounds pretty right wing ok to me. I'm confussed. Is it because its private Hollywood money?
probably. but maybe it would've been okay if the funds were provided be a right-wing celebrity.

Plus, Shock and Awe was much more Hollywood than anything I've seen in a long long time. With an honarable mention to the spin about the female soldier in the begging of the occupation of Iraq and how she held off Iraq soldiers by herself while being shot up and was an American hero etc.
you'd figure the right would love hollywood, considering all of the violent and super patriotic pro-usa war movies they make.
