Don't know if this has already been mentioned but Supergrass are recording a covers album under the name The Hot Rats and one of the covers is to be Fight For Your Right. Not sure about this:cool:, will probably be shit, but thought someone might be interested. Bit predictable to cover FFYR.

half of supergrass, its just the singer/guitarist and the drummer. i thought sabotage would be much more predictable

groups like supergrass and coldplay probly think they're being "hip" covering the beastie boys; too bad they're 25 years behind the curve. covering FFYR is sheer novelty at this point, IMO.

at least coldplay's hearts were in the right place; supergrass, though, I don't know.

...now i'm gonna go back to drinking my Hater-Ade.

really good band. i think they'll make a good go of it. they can get the groove on and put loads of energy into tracks unlike limp ass piano and vocals like cunty boy martin.

it'll be good

Yeah, especially now the beastie boys aren't hip.

Disappointed Gaz didn't push for something obvious like Professor Booty, Eugene's Lament or The Biz vs The Nuge. What a prick.

Sarcasm? From Kid P? Shocker.

There are plenty of applicable songs in between the extremes of FFYR and Eugene's Lament.

coldplay should have done "i dont know".

the hot rats cover will race along, have a really good vocal, a load of brass in it and will be good, you heard it here first.

Overthinking something inconsequential? Who cares what they cover? You'd shit on it no matter what because it wouldn't do any justice to the original. At least I know it. I bet it will be fucking miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles better than it should be.

Best cover of a beastie boy song might be looking down the barrel of a gun by Anthrax

yeah, that's an awesome one. (y)

blah blah blah.

I think it's a gimmicky cover choice.

jump on someone else's back.

"It doesn't really have any chords on it, it's about the beat and the rap"

Have they even heard the song before?

I like Supergrass a lot, I'll definitely be checking this out when it's finished.

Supergrass is good times. If you'd like to suggest a viable alternative for them to cover, go right ahead. And remind me that next time I decide to have a joke with you, to check ahead of time whether it's the decent bloke version of you posting that day, or this one.

I read some of your posts and you articulate so well and your thoughts are brilliant and I read stuff like this and I wonder what point you are trying to make? maybe an inside joke?

Nobody from now til' infinity needs to cover FFYR...It was played out before it's third rotation on MTV...The fans that new the Beasties had a future after LTI were the ones digging tracks like Brass Monkey & Paul Revere. Why don't bands cover Paul Revere or Brass Monkey if they want to pay truibute to classic Beastie Golden Era status???

You're far too kind. My brain doesn't really work. I think Supergrass are a decent band that don't suck, and can't think of anything else they should, could or would cover. They'll do it well, I think.

The inside joke is me. I am a joke inside this world.

And for the record, I like FFYR. It's the first song of theirs I ever heards, man.

"But we decided to make it sound like The Who"

Interesting, could be better than I imagined. I agree Supergrass are a good band, I just can't quite imagine what this cover will sound like!
