Those are really great.

Below is my favorite NYTimes response in comments (http://community.nytimes.com/comments/www.nytimes.com/2009/08/12/health/policy/12townhall.html?sort=recommended).

Filthy, ignorant, boot-licking lumpen-proletarians who carry water for the insurance companies and other money interests who laugh at these fools, all the way to the bank. I wonder how many idiots at the town hall are receiving Social Security and Medicare. Is that a threat to the "Republic" as well? Only insofar that it raises the stupidity quotient of the nation.

Along with this,

I have watched the GOP screamers, most of them white and 60+ years old, screaming loony things without any sense of civility, with my two daughters, 6th and 8th grade.

They are learning a lot about today's conservative ideology.

You know what pisses me off about Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, and the like...
Obama's healthcare plan is not good on it's own merit. There's no need for these kooks to bring all the dramatics into it.

i agree, for once. why can't they just debate the merits of obama's health care plan by drumming people up into a frenzy over nazism, like civilized people?

oh hang on, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlwfTeJ5_cs) they do (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VWT5Q7TloM)

nothing in the health care bill has anything to do with hitler
allowing fear of nazism to torpedo healthcare reform is embarrassing
zealots are ruining this for everyone
is acrostic the word you meant to use?

While I don't know enough about the healthcare plan, i do agree with the rest of it.

?

On another thread the absurdidty of Rosa Parks and Hitler is being discussed and intertwined on the thread as to which has the most to do with health care, mainly by you. I contributed my part to that as a joke... except the lunacy is people on the right have no sense of humor everything is threat from the bunker of their minds.

Gail Collins from todays NYTimes has another excellent column that speaks to us who would just like to see some small sign of equilibrium from those who oppose the current health care reform

Gunning for Health Care (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/13/opinion/13collins.html?_r=1)

Representative Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat, was not actually holding a town hall when her gun incident occurred. She was conducting a “Congress on Your Corner” at the Douglas Safeway — a simple event where people line up to get help with things like Social Security or documentation. But the health care protests have spread way beyond actual meetings about health care, and a handful of irritated conservatives have been following Giffords around almost everywhere.

Rudy Ruiz, the father of one of Giffords’s college interns, saw the gun hit the floor. “It was an older gentleman, 65 or so. Basically, he was one of the ones holding up a banner saying ‘Don’t Tread on Me,’ ” said Ruiz. “He bent over, and it fell out of the holster is what it did. It bounced. That concerned me. I just thought what would happen if it had gone off? Could my daughter have gotten hurt?”

His daughter, a college senior, is hoping to pursue a political career after graduation.

“Are you sure you want to get involved in this stuff?” Ruiz asked her on the way home.

Scare tactics used by the simple minded.

If you want to be in politics, you have to be ready for that stuff.

Agreed, the poignant thing about the above statement was a fathers concern about his daughters safety in an environment gone mad.
