Took a little of everyones. STaye at the Westin on N. Michigan Ave. Got there and grabbed some lunch. We had tix for the Phils/Cubs that night so we headed straight down to Wrigleyville.
Once there we went to Cubbie Bears some German beer joint down the street, Murphys and some other place I cant remember. Then drank at hotel bar.
Next day we did the water architecture tour and Willis Tower. Also did Millenium Park and Ditkas for lunch. Went to some blues place off Michigan ave toward financial district, not sure of name.
Then went to Giordanos (sp) for pizza. Went to Ginos East next day.
That night we went back to Wrigleyville.

Y'know, everyone goes on about the rivalry between lou malnati's and giordano's in chicago and who's got the better pizza. the thing is, i don't know a single person who would choose gioradano's over lou malnati's. been eatin' lou's since i was a little one, and it amazes me still how fuckin' good that shit is.
shoulda gone to lou's.

giordano's tricks people into thinking they're good with marketing.
I mean, it's not bad...it's just not good, or even close to being the best. the toppings and whatnot are decent, it's the crust that blows.

check it out, they ship "pizza's" nationwide.

now this place is the jam: http://www.exchequerpub.com/
I only just found it a couple months ago when my mom was visiting, best pizza I ever ate anywhere ever.

Giordano's crust tastes like baking soda. Their pizzas are overpriced and they can pretty much blow me.
DW, I haven't even heard of that place! I'll have to hit it up the next time I'm thurr, which will hopefully be in early October.

Ha, I actually like Giordano's. Lou's is better though.
It drives me nuts when people come here and go to all the touristy places.

me too, especially since I get a lot of tourists strolling into my store because it's near wrigleyville. and they are annoying. they're always asking me if I ship things, or pack them up so they can take it on a plane. I mean, I appreciate the business when they give it, but 90% of them don't buy anything at all and just waste my time with stupid questions.
I think the only solution is to beat the crap out of Praying Mantis the next time he visits. :p

We don't need to dirty our hands. I say for the next for 'Hey, I'm coming to Chicago' thread we should work on recommending some real west side hot spots.
Is that H20 place still open?

Well let's be fair here. When you go to a new city and you don't know any better it's easy to get caught in the tourist traps. In a way it's cool because I get to those places so rarely I don't mind taking the odd out of town visitor when they make their way into my quaint little corner of the country. I've only been up the space needle once and I get to pike place about once every three years otherwise.

I know, I just want people to go to the place real Chicago people go. People will be mingling with mostly other tourists going to the touristy places.
It's better to go the safe touristy places then wonder in to SF's Tenderloin hood like my wife did.

what's H20?
I really just want him to stay out of wrigleyville because I hate it there so much. I mean, I see the appeal, I put my time in when I first moved here...there's just so many other things to do and see than a billion variations on a cub t-shirt and streets running orange with vomit.

In fetal position, ready for forthcoming beatdown. Its tough trying to pack everything into a 2 1/2 day trip.
