What's up everyone? This is Max Tannone. I've been promising this for a while and its finally here...I just finished it a few minutes ago!
Beastie Boys - Doublecheck Your Head
Listen / download for free: www.doublecheckyourhead.com
For those that don't know, its a remix album I made that mixes the Beasties with themselves, with the material coming from their 1992 "Check Your Head" album (one of my personal favorites.)
Anyway - check it out...I hope you like it. Please share it with your friends.
GET WELL MCA. (y)
peace.

This is very well done. Usually I don't bother clicking on these remixes since more often than not they're either not in sync or just boring. This was neither.
Thanks (y)

All tracks are now on my mp3 player to be bumped around town. Tannone, excellent work. I like how you dropped "Strawberry Letter" and "Supersonic" into the "Too Many Rappers" mix. Excellent (y)(y)
Aiight.. listened to this ALL day today.. This is nice.. This is by far the best remixes I've ever heard on this site.
I wish someone would remix ALL of TT5B with different beats..

the jaydiohead vinyl thing is crazy - someone made a ton of them and is selling them at record stores all around the world
i don't even know who is doing it
its a little annoying that someone is profiting from Jaydiohead - but ultimately im glad that the music is getting out there

OK. I like all of them, but I like Booty Groove and Skills To Lighten Up the best... because they have lyrics that I haven't heard before. Not to diminish your remixing skills, but I'm that collector geek who gets REALLY fired up when I find new audio. Also, I laughed out loud when I heard the Shugie & Supersonic drops (very cool). Thanks for the free audio!

Yeah I'm baffled I have no idea where those new lyrics are from. I thought I had a lot of stuff. On that note has anyone got "in a world gone mad"? I saw them do it live, but I've never heard it on audio and yes I know it's not very good, but it be cool to hear it.
Seriously, I have been playing these 7 tracks over and over and over... I hope you do more mixes like this.. a Hello Nasty Remix project would be insane... and I like that Jaydiohead stuff too.. more mixes like these please.. insane..

He was commissioned by the Beasties to make these mash-ups, so I'm guessing he had full access to each track he used.
Nice.

Well he should share the rare acapellas for all us remixers on here.

This is not fair - He has the Professor Booty 'pella and if you listen to yauchs verse he says some lyrics that didnt see the light of day.
Didnt Max come on here once and say Ad-Rock is a friend of the family? Anyone remember that? Because from what I am hearing on the album, he had access to a virtual beastie audio treasure chest... U'll know what I mean if you have heard this album. Its sick...

If he was commissioned to do the remix/mash-ups (whatever you wanna call them) by the band, I don't think he should be obligated to put the rare acapellas out in public domain just because we as fans want them. Especially if he didn't ask first. That would look shitty on his part.
If the band wanted us to have them, they would put them in the Remix section of this site.
Yes, it would be nice to have them... But the we shouldn't feel like we are entitled to every acapella and instrumental the band has in it's catalogue just because we are fans.

y'all nuts. this shit is like finding a reggie bar and eating it.
those instrumentals used are not your off the shelf, that's another groove holmes, lighten up, etc... sounds like the raw recorded out takes...
triple thumbs up on the compusure, exclusivity, delivery. everything, this is a very nice treat. and free.... i never thought i'd see the day.

I don't think it's the raw recorded out-takes. Nice to see you getting that excited about something, Rich. Creative use of the originals, though. Very atypical loops and shit, plus the manipulation is something different. Although they're all manipulated in a similar fashion. Not my thing at all, but I did listen to the lot of them, and heaps of work obviously went into it so hats off on that.
Maybe I'm too precious about Check Your Head. It's like tracing the Mona Lisa and putting her in a comic book about a group of classic works of art bought to life to solve crimes. I'd rather just enjoy the original.
Max, not trying to be a dick. Criticism is something rarely encountered on this forum, and your work is far superior to the hack jobs that usually float around. You did well with the material, and the pellas got people excited. Plus it's a great way to show love for the band, so I can't knock that. Just not my cup of tea. Would love to hear some original stuff, man.

got it pumping in my car right now. very nice and refreshing.
So I was at a concert tonight and it took me over an hour to get out of the parking lot when it was over.. so I popped this CD in and just turned that shit up... I could see people around me walking by my car and slowing down to hear what I was listening to.. because it is insane.
Here is what I think...
The remix for "Too Many Rappers" should be the album version on "Hot Sauce Committee 1" simply because it blows the original version away. Just sayin'..

Agreed. The drums on the original own anything Max could offer. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate what Max put together. But, his drum hits are not packing the punch. They could use some layering and thickened up to hit harder and sound more like "real drum hits' instead of digital programmed drum hits that come with the program.

I do think the remix is very good. I like the Shuggie sample and the fax machine at the end, but I agree with the others. The original hits hard and should stay the way it is. Maybe they'll pick his up for a b-side or maybe they'll do a "body movin" esq thing and use his cut for the video. All though I do wish they made a original version for the video. Body Movin would of been a very cool live video ala "Root Down"

I just virtually stumbled across this...
http://www.deejay.de/(S(dsht11455xpavb55lldpux55))/Detailansicht.aspx?artid=27841
A vinyl site in Germany is selling bootleg vinyl issues of Doublecheck Your Head. Well, when I add one to my shopping cart it actually says "Not Yet Available" or something...regardless I thought this was funny.
It bums me that someone is trying to make a little change from this, but I definitely feel privileged to be bootlegged.
