mostly cause it was bandaged that way.
holy fuck it hurts - i cut my middle finger yesterday with a big ol' knife, kinda deep. my dad, an expert in cutting off appendages, was able to bandage me and i had a tea before we decided to look at it and it was still gushing blood. so we went to the hospital.
i got 4 stitches on my middle finger on my left hand. it has made simple tasks such as getting dressed impossible. i had to shower with one hand, which made me feel retarded. it hurts like a bitch. and my hand is all swollen so it looks terrible.
unfuns.
oh yea, i had massive giggle fits while at the hospital. i think the nurses thought i was high or something. i kept telling them jokes and charming them with my self deprecation. i can't help it, hospitals give me the giggles.

were you chopping up carrots or something?
Ouch, Pauli. Hope you're alright. I got a deep gash on my middle finger with a pair of scissors at work one time. As they say, don't run with scissors... well, I wasn't running with them, but still.

i was trying to pit an avocado with a big bread knife, which was dumb. that knife is like a mini-saw. ive cut myself doing this before too, but usually i'm less dumb and i use a smaller knife (therefore, smaller cuts).
i think it's funny that this happened, except for the part that hurts like hell. if they had only given me some percs, i would have been thrilled to have had this experience.

hope you heal up fast! I can sympathize. It wasn't a cut but I broke my hand, so doing things one handed really, REALLY sucked. And unfortunately no family or friends were near by. Everything was a challenge and once I even cried because I couldn't put my hair in a ponytail by myself and I couldn't ask anyone to help me, haha.
Make sure you get those who love you to help when they can (y)

i was doing exactly what that dude was doing, except the pit was inpenetrable, and i was cutting with this knife (http://images.surlatable.com/surlatable/images/en_US/local/products/detail/5773.jpg). it was a complete idiot moment, because i was just too lazy to grab another knife.
gist of the story: when avocados and/or knives are involved, i am an idiot.
one time i was cutting a piece of bread and the knife slipped and i brought it down right on top of the tip of my finger. fortunately i hadn't cut my nails in a while and my fingernails stopped it from bisecting my finger lengthwise
i mean that probably wouldn't have happened but still, it would've been gross

my friend recently routed his middle finger on a table router while doing some woodworking, ripped part of the nail off. it looked fuckin sick, but it's healing up lickety split, it's only been like a week and a half. fingers recover pretty quickly, keep it clean and you'll be back to normal in no time, hooray!

Monkey see Monkey do!...that's a bread knife!...:)...Ohhhhhh...one time my sis did her thumb in on a uncooperative can of italian tuna in this weird ass square can...it was brutal...me I trim the top of my thumb a couple times a year it seems...or the index finger if it get's out of line...but I'm more prone to burns...I'm a burn idiot...I love to throw the top of my wrist/hand against the upper rack of the oven or use my hands as tongs...for kicks I guess...I'm usually sporting one of these… (http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x265/mcmoot/wristbrn.jpg)and theres many faded ones upon closer inspection...

my family is known for losing fingers. my grandfather lost his index finger on his left hand at age 22. my dad nearly lost it a few years ago when he power-sawed it almost off, but the magic of modern medicine put it back. he cant really move it much anymore. my brother did something bad to it not long ago, i dont remember what it was anymore. but we joke that you can't be part of the family and keep all your fingers throughout your life. it's just not in the plan.
it aint so bad anymore, the pain is minimal already, but i had to get rid of most of the bandaging. my hand was getting claustrophobic. im kinda pissed that i cant do my super awesome workouts cause i cant lift nor can i put weight on the hand (did you know the middle finger allows for even balance when you're downward dog-ing? yeah. learned that when i fell). oh and i can only shower with only 1 hand, and thats hard. ponytails, like crystal said, impossible. so is putting on my bra. who knew the middle finger was key to getting that thing on? but i cant imagine how terrible breaking the hand must be. ive got some use of my other fingers. i can type! hahahahaha.
this is funny :)
ps: the bread (for which the knife was originally being used) was AWESOME. i really have never had such delicious bread.
