I think maybe when he had to work to earn laughs he might have been decent, or at least had some okay jokes. But now that he's so huge, he doesn't have to do anything, so his jokes are terrible.

I caught a bit of his newest DOUCHE IN THE ROUND or whatever bs he was doing and it was mind-blowing how he would just mention basic every-day things and people would go nuts for hit. He had a whole bit about how people write directions...and there was no joke, it was literally him just describing how someone writes directions. But everybody went apeshit for it...pretty interesting.

There's no denying he's one of the biggest tools on the planet, but he's rich for being so. The only tool that's bigger than he is the collective mass of dickweeds/slutty teenagers that throw their money at him.

Every comedian hates him because yeah he sucks, but there is also the twinge of envy. I cant say it is unwarranted because there are thousands of worthy comics who aren't paying their mortgage making jokes like he is.

In a way, I sometimes wonder if the joke just isnt on all of his fans. I mean, this guy basically got his start playing to drunk frat kids in college towns and blew up that way. He curtailed towards the mediocre market and hit it big and has this insane following now. Its ridiculous, but also pretty clever.

I read an article about him years ago where he talks about how his dad suggested that he do the college circuit. he said it was because people often continue throughout their lives to like the things they discovered when they were college-age.

I mean, look at Dave Matthews Band. People stilllll love that shit.

So, Dane Cook's dad is the clever one.
