Beastie General is quite the ghost town these days eh? Everybody's waiting for some good news right now. Just waitin for the good word on Yauch. Hopefully followed by a Hot Sauce scoop. Alotta kinetic energy circulating round these here parts...:o

Well put. I am not sure if we as fans have been able to adequately cope or accomodate Yauch's illness. When you love a band as much as Beastie fans do this information surely has some effect. Things here appear a little down but tinged with an underlying hope that everything will be ok for him, his family and the band. I often go back and watch Yauch's youtube announcement. It is simultaneously sad and uplifting. Of course Yauch's update letter gave everyone reason for hope and that is a good thing.

I certainly had been gone for a loooooooong time. The reissues brought me back. And Yauch made me stay.

You give him too much credit. His name is SourFunkLemonad. No "e" at the end. Heh.

Yo Yauch: I hope you're doing well. How's it going these days?

You'll get over it.
Just put up a poll that has something to do if the new B-Boys record has been released in Albania yet, and if anyone believes it to be true.
I know you got it in you...

I suppose you're right I will bounce back. I can see my return (and fall) now: A new thread about the possibility of an Albania-only golden ticket 7" found in a discarded Muesli box. The poll would be a huge success.

Its funny that the people on this board that actualy get excited for new Beastie material an enjoy Beastie Boys get hated on. Haters dont like people that are into the Beastie Boys on a BEASTIE BOYS message board. Shits rediculous.

I agree Laurie. Fans are by definition supposed to be fanatics. They collect inane stuff, watch media reports (ranging from twitter to the New York Slimes), buy the albums / merchandise, go to the shows and get excited by even the most inane things perceived to be related to the target of their affections. I always found it kind of sweet. Others think it is pathetic, moronic, useless, childish, a plague on the earth etc. I see both points of view (well except for the plague on the earth one). I keep my jaded posts mostly for Beastie Free Political and try to stay positive in General Beastie Boys Discussion. Oh well to each their own.
I think they (the 'jaded ones') like us alright Laurie. Except every once in a while they may wish they could place a good beatin' on us -- glad this board is virtual as I am kind of into non-violence.

I haven't been here long enough to judge the mood or traffic patterns.
I'm looking forward to HSC for the holidays/new year.
I hope their will be a vinyl edition, eventually.
In the meantime, there's a lot to reading on here that's all new to me.
It's a newbie fan's treasure chest of information.

The reissues have been ok. Hello Nasty doesn't really need remastering. Listening to the CYH one was like hearing the album for the first time, which was great. But fuck all this noise, Tadlock's >>>> Remasters.

What is funny is that you seem to be one of the well informed true fans with well thought out commentary and interesting points of view...cheers to you
that is a super nice thing to say -- thank you. hopefully when the new LP drops fans (jaded and otherwise) will be less tense around here. maybe even the political forum will improve, although that may be hoping for too much ;)

funny...when i signed up that was the character limit...
ironic how I try to avoid the boared because as a real lifelong beastie fan it is embarrasing to see some of the people who think of themselves as fans. Yuck
Too true.
Also, why do people hate on Hammy so much? He treats others on this board with respect. Is that "uncool" these days?

This is so cliche, but why can't we all just get along? Seriously people. We're all here for the exact same reason.
No one member of this board is any cooler than another. Except me, you're all cooler than me. Stop fighting or I'll be forced to run upstairs and cry under my pillow until it stops. Nobody wants that.

I cannot speak for Laurie but I am not an Insane Clown Posse fan. I can take a ribbing (is that the right phrase? sounds a little freaky). Ribs are best on the BBQ or when they borderline on the hilarious.
On a different topic this exchange does remind me about two things characteristic of some early Beastie Boys fans I have met: (1) they can be quite testy (i.e., particular) about accurate knowledge of the band and other bands' music (e.g., 'it is pronounced this way not that way!'); and (2) always made sure to help someone up when they had fallen in a mosh pit. These days it seems that few people have both characteristics, although I could be wrong about that. Maybe Micodin would be the first to help me and Laurie up if we were caught in a mosh? Sometimes it is the most critical people with the hearts of gold.

I like to snark.
There are a hundreds of cats on here that are pretty cool ala Bro McDuff, KP, Mckill, and the like.
But, sometimes people on this board write some way out nonsensical bullshit that drives me batshit and I like to call them on it.
It's not personal, it's just funny to me.
And to Mr. Michelle. I wouldn't help you up in a mosh pit because moshing is so fuckin 90's. But, I would buy you a beer.
SourFunk on the other hand can eat a dick.

That is pretty funny Micodin. Ya mosh pits are pretty lame in a 'gomer' kind of way. Although I swear I was caught in a great slam dance / mosh pit at a recent Dinosaur Jr gig -- felt like it was 1992 all over again. The only difference was the ages ranged from 14-50 lol
I just might take you up on that beer someday (y)
